Q: what is life after divorce like?

i 've talked to a few women who said they "do not have children" because their husband got the kids in the divorce so they have "no dealings with them" is that common?

I know 4 examples very well of divorced Chinese people. In 3 cases the mother has custody and in the other 1 the father. What is common to all of them, and this is the strange thing, is that the non custodial parent has little to do with the child and has very little contact. They only seem to be back in the picture when the child becomes old enough to marry, when they are expected to pony up some money if their child is a male. It looks to me as an outside observer that neither the child or the non custodial parent have any issues with this. Of course this is very different from the way custody and support is shared and divided in most western legal systems.

I don't know 1 case where the woman has the children in ever instance I know of the kids are at the ex-husbands hometown, they have no visitation or anything, they lost their kids. All the women I know feel their kids were stolen from them and they are quite bitter. Being the dick that i am I do point out they made the choice to divorce and then it's silent... Of course I don;t know the reasons I'm sure they had their own... But it's still a choice so to make that sacrifice the ex must have been a real prick... Not only does she loose the kids but she's also banned from her family home the first day of Chinese new year as she'll bring bad luck and her family will not usually allow her to buy a home in her home village. It screws her whole life.
