Q: What made you choose your avatar/online name?
Silly question maybe but i'm curious. Mine is a mixture of aliens and alcoholics (the name that is), two groups I bare a close affinity to. And the picture.......well it's autobiographical; my last marriage ended in a court battle over a child. The wife threw a fit, I threw an insult, she threw a blamange, and as you can see from the picture, I got custardy. Waha, old Stephen Fry joke there. Please to excuse. No, actually it's a Banksy picture. My favourite artist.
I like the marvel character Thanos. . . I always thought the artist that drew him made him look really cool. I like the entire infinite guantlet thing. I guess the name is a combination of one of my actual real fighters in real life and it sounds close to the saying: ' 99 silver'!
I am just an average guy who happens to enjoy The Simpsons. D'oh!!
My first 'real' , 'grown-up' profession was as a Commercial Diver, also led to taking my first trip to Asia. I was on a crew doing some work at a nuke plant over on Taiwan.
I also dig the movie 'Clockwork Orange'. I could not get into the novel though, language was just toooooo odd for me.. even though I do admit the genius of Mr. Burgess. I also am a big fan of Mr. McDowell, in particular his character- Alex DeLarge.
~ bit of the ol' ultra-violence anyone ? ![]()

Not for me thanks, got a bit of a splurgywart feeling in me guttywuts. Maybe later.
I got tired of trying to be clever or summarize my personality and or interests in 10 characters or less so I chose my nickname and four numbers.
Now you know! Epic, huh?
Same story with my avatar. I only changed the color.
Boring, I know.

I originally used a baby picture of me, used different ones since. I used this one because of my driving strategy in China. I hung out with real biker gangs since I was 11 yrs old. The first thing I ever did on my first bike was to see how far I could wheelie. I have done more maniac stunts and pulled out of more tight situations on 2 and 4 wheels than anyone I know. I actually kicked the crap out of a 500 lb AH that almost killed me one day while I was riding a bike on a highway. He was in a car and I was on my bike at 60 mph. Some friends saw this by coincident. After being a walking target in China and driving a scooter, I decided no more Mr. Niceguy and adopted the Road Warrior method of driving. Yes I have kicked cars and bikes in China, but no drivers, close though.
My real name is Ted. I've had the nicname Teddybear since I was 6 and went to new school mid-year, kids and teasing. It stuck.

Yeh, I was a bit of a lunatic biker back in the day. Booted my share of cars myself. One was the modern version Rolls Royce, he swung out and nearly knocked me off. Enjoyed that. With the boots I had doors folded like cardboard. As a bike courier I got in more near fights and had more near miss collisions than I could possibly remember. Used to hear the accident reports over the radio all the time. "77, copy. 77, can you repeat that? 77 do you need an ambulance?" People lost fingers, broke bones, some got killed. I even remember hearing one phone conversation whilst waiting in the office: "Yep....yep....no....yeh, he's in the hospital now..........yep......no, he's ok, but he's lost a testicle." All I remember was thinking to ask, "Where did he see it last?" Poor sod. Testicles are a problem for bikers though, they get bashed on the tank of course. Fortunately for me i've had mine removed by my wife and now sport them as rather fetching earrings.

My first bike was a 650 BSA with 6'' extended forks, chromed everything and my first custom paint job, , my last was a Honda 1000 Interseptor, insanely fast.
I learnt the word "Spoon" from those Disney English lessons on tape when I was 9.
I've kept this nickname ever since.
I live in Daqing. I am a bit of a devil. I like alliteration. I enjoy a glass of red. Simplicity really isn't it?
I am a non-married-woman: miss.
My initial: A
Also, (little)Miss(type)A, so it's kind of a personality thing, too.
Can't comment above - my avatar started out as a beach scene, I'm a beach girl at heart. But at the time I was living in the most inland city in the world in the freezing cold, so I changed it to a snow leopard, which is found in Xinjiang.
Just before Australia Day, I thought something Aussie might be more appropriate since I'd just moved home, and so I changed it to a koala, which Phil rightly pointed out was a bit wussy after an apex predator.
Thus, the latest incarnation; it's a great white, also an apex predator and found off the coasts of Australia.

Magnificent specimen he is too. Bad teeth though. Someone hasn't been wearing his retainer.
My pic is Norwegian Forest Cat breed, hairy with correct triangle from tip of her nose to the tip of the ears, dead at human age of 17. I got it grown up (2 Y old) from my niece. I tried to train her (cat) in some 'proper' behavior, butt...I ended up being trained. Photo was taken while she is napping in the drawer on the set of my clean T-shirts.
My handle is my real last name.
I have always loved aircraft ever since I was a kid looking up at the contrails in the sky and wondering where everyone was going. I always enjoyed Topgun as a movie (OK I know it isn't a great movie but I enjoyed it anyway), and at the time the ultimate carrier based aircraft was an F14 Tomcat. So with a little imagination I could be a Tomcatflyer. As to the picture, that really came about as an extension of my love of aircraft, what about the craft and the pilots who come from other places. The whole sci-fi thing always grabbed my attention. So there we are, 59 years old and mentally somewhere around early twenties just wanting to fly.
mArtiAn:
Haha, loved Top Gun too, but that film had distinctly homosexual undertones. Val Kilmer to Tom Cruise: "I'd ride your tail anytime." Haha, yeh, I bet you would Val. That's short for Valerie, isn't it?
When I was 10 I played a game called Final Fantasy XI. The job class I liked was called "Monk", so I named myself "Amonk". Maximus Decimus Veridius (and all derivitives thereof) was taken. I am well renowned for my creativity.
