I watched 'battle of the bulge'. tonight. It started a wechat conversation... I lost. The movie U571 wins as the most factually incorrect.
Are these films western propaganda?
Braveheart was an ok movie but was historical fiction. That’s got be high up there.
I quite liked the u571 movie. Bon jovie is a navy officer, what’s not to like. The producers had to Americanise it so it would sell. But yeah I think that one wins your competition. Though I read the British naval officer in charge of retrieving the enigma machine, quite liked it
the movie about going to mars, I think it was "gravity" and the new TV series "the first", the gravity problem regardless of all other factors prevents any possible return to Earth, your body would basically explode.
The victors of war always get to make the history, so the rapes of women in Berlin is never mentioned, and in slight defense of Hitler, he did wait 3 months to carpet bomb civilians after Churchill had been doing it for 90 days before all over Germany, not just factories as many books try to claim, My opinion of Churchill has diminished a lot after analyzing real events versus agenda driven stories. If the British don't like people getting poisoned all the time, just admit Churchill had Stalin poisoned and own the story and maybe give a half ass apology, Churchill was dead to the public after the war but 7 years later, he becomes a star again, now I know the real reason. The carpet bombing of civilians and no military targets by the Japanese on Shanghai was worse than Nanking, but the Chinese don't seem to separate body count from emotional talking points.
Hotwater:
Toy should dig more into Churchill’s history. A great British hero? He’s a mass murderer. No hero of mine & im a Brit - check out India. Etc.
ScotsAlan:
Gravity was about China blowing up a satilite in low earth orbit. It was pretty good, but did involve 30,000km trips powered by fire extinguishers.I would rate it as educational, in the same vein as 2001.

Hurtlocker was pretty bad.
ScotsAlan:
I liked hurt locker. Its a typical 'look at how we sufffer killing brown people' film. The SAS bit with ralph fines was total crap. But overall, I thought it was ok in portraying a guy who just does not care.
ScotsAlan:
And as a bonus, hurt locker is free on youkou. Also free on youkou is 'a good kill'. About drone pilots. Thats worth a look. The factually incorrect part would be the static drone video.
Spiderboenz:
He would have been removed from duty and sent home after day 1.
Dokken was right that Braveheart has to be up there. The number of anachromisms, including kilts, is considerable, not to mention that the female love interest in the film was 2 and lived in France when William Wallace died. A sadistic barbarian he was, a teleporting paedophile he was not.
The Untouchables is a good movie but it's pretty full of shit from a historical point-of-view. Elliot Ness was a drinker and philanderer and played a much smaller role in taking down Capone than the movie suggests.
The YouTube channel History Buffs is excellent on this subject, as is the Guardian series Reel History.
ScotsAlan:
Ha ha.As Frankie Boyle observed.. An ozzie playing a scotsman... will never work. But hey, he turned out to be an alcoholic racist :-)

Did you see that people are worried that a panther might be loose in Scotland?

They needn't worry. If it's been in Scotland for a while, it probably has no teeth left.
Fury was pretty hilarious.
A guy in a disabled tank beats a waffen SS battalion.
A tiger loses in a 1 on 1 with a Sherman.
