Student: "Can you tell me about the things we don't know about Chinese history?"
I teach Western History at a university. Most students become prickly when they perceive any comparison or criticism of China (having fragile egos and a sense of national pride based on rather shaky facts, this happens often). Occasionally, though, I get a student with a genuine interest in discovering things.
EDIT: Two years ago, a girl who I had just met on a bus asked me if I could get her pregnant. Her ambition was to get pregnant and get married so her husband could work and she could eat and watch TV. I declined her offer.
I would have thought that would of been the most forgettable. But someone once asked me where is the base located that you stayed in while you were in the air force. the comical part about this was he wasn't even american so he wouldn't even have known where it was....lo~L!!!
Hugh.G.Rection:
I'm British, but I've worked with the USAF and I can use google too. Where is it?
Scandinavian:
I have access to Google Earth and an idea that most USAF bases are not secretly hidden.
Where was it? I am also from foreign country.
The most memorable implication I've ever read is that 99Silva is not only not Chinese, but ex-USAF.
....Can I touch it?
...From a dude....
...In a public restroom...
...In a McD's
...In China.
bill8899:
I regret to say that though the questions are outlandish, in China this does not seem unlikely at all.
Fortunately I cannot compete with that.
My ex-gf asked me how IT Could Get Sooooo Big !!
I'm still not sure if she was referring to my Ego or my Ignorance. I suspect both.
