You're two best bets are either shipping your stuff by train or hiring a freight company to move it for you. The train option is by far the cheapest but comes with a disadvantage, namely having to pick up your stuff at the destination's trainstation.

Here are 2 useful articles that offer good advice on the subject:

They are very few "moving companies" here, most of them cater to foreigners and are VERY expensive. I have used the China Railway company twice to move. They are a little move expensive than freight forwarding companies, but much more reliable. They have door to door service, just have a Chinese friend help you to call them and they will come get your stuff and ship it to your new town. They even provide boxes if needed.

Railway delivery is best, not all cities will deliver it to your door...its also hard to get an answer from the despatching city as to weather the receiving city will deliver to your door, need to contact the company in each city to make sure it will work without the problem of additional fees for extra drop off service (that you already paid the dispatcher for)

most cities will have a China Railway Delivery office at the train station you can ask them for details or get it online if you can check in Chinese.

I dont have much stuff i think total around 11 boxes cost me under 1000rmb from Jiangsu to Guangxi...but it will depend on weight

tip- its a good idea to have an idea of the weight of your boxes before the guy comes to pick up, i had them say every box was over 25kg meaning the price would be way higher...no one had any type of scales so took some hard negotiating. (you can buy a luggage scale in most decent 2yuan shops)
