Q: what is the official wage range for foreign experts (ESL Teachers) in China?

Specifically, foreign expert teacher working in Shuyang county, Xuqian municipality - Jiangsu province.

To get the answer, look at the JOBS section of this site and average the salaries. Generally, a beginner will get between 15,000-18,000 rmb. Of course, kindergartens pay more typically, while universities pay much less.

There is no offical wage rate anywhere in China as far as I know.

 

English teaching jobs in China are contractual, i.e. salary, other benefits and requirements are determined by the Contract, which employee must sign or in other words 'accept the offer'.

Employer/school must present signed Contract to the Gov. to receive all required documentation for employee's Z/Work visa application.

 

You will get better paying offer at Training mills than at the Public schools, but at the Public schools you'll work less.

Dude, you've got them over a barrel. Leverage them hard. 20-30k would be an ordinary outcome.
