Q: What, other than Baijiu, is the preffered liquor of Chinese people?

Whenever I go home I try to buy for GOOD friends something I think they'd like. But it is hard to buy for Chinese. I always get Ice Wine for the women, but for the guys I want to get them a whiskey that the likely haven't had before and can't get in China.

The little jar of cherries in moonshine went over pretty good. Or a bottle of Everclear (they don't like the taste but love talking about the idea of how strong is it).

I think they like the XO cognac, but haven't seen them drink it much, more of just leaving in the cabinet for guests to see that their "cool" when they visit their house.

They like Cognac for the display and Scotch Whisky to drink. It is true that they also prefer the bottle to be decorative. Johnnie Walker Blue label seems to have a bit of prestige around the people I know. Also a good red wine goes over pretty well.

A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
