Q: What paid services have you used to learn Chinese?

I have used:
Chineseteachers.com (online Chinese teachers billed at an hourly rate based on their credentials) total of $200 credited to my account
Skritter.com (monthly subscription based service with a Chinese/Japanese character learning program) about $10/month
and Private Tutors about 50RMB/hour

What was good? What was bad? How much did the service cost?

I took Speak Manderin 101 at the local college a few months ago.
I lasted 4 weeks then I was sent back to China, so I ditched it.
If I can learn 5 or 6 words a week...and I mean really learn them...sink into the brain and say them over and over again words, then I will learn more just being here then trying to learn Chinese back home.
I learned French most of my life in school but was never immersed in it.  Here I have no choice so why the hell would I waste money on learning it?
Just keep asking questions and saying the words over and over and eventually you will be fine.
