Q: What should I do in Guangzhou?
I am heading to Guangzhou soon to file a I-130 petition. I will be staying in Guangzhou for two nights. Is there anything in Guangzhou that I should avoid. What must-see attractions should I check out?
I would appreciate any help Guangzhou people.

stay away from garden hotel. not soooo many attractions but its a great city. message me if you have more specific questions
All i know is that I never visit Guangzhou without hitting a shisha bar. Delicious.

Guangzhou is the pits. Why would anybody live there?

completly disagree. 7 years in china and ive lived in many cities and been to most. Although certainly not a travel city. For living..... Guangzhou is by far my favorite city

1. Salary= as its a top tier city, its pay is on par although maybe a little less than BJ or SH but the cost of living is much lower
2. Convenience. The metro is better than in other cities i find, traffic is better. Lots of laowai pubs and western restaurants. Shopping is the cheapest in China, as most consumer good are produced in the area or shipped from here.
3 Much more 文明 ( civilized) The cantonese have a huge Hong Kong influence, and take alot of pride in being polite and western. Its the only place ( other than beijing and shanghai) that you can walk freely without being stared at. No one yells " Hello! hehehe" And yes that includes Shenzhen where i live now. Of course there are alot of migrant workers which doesnt help, but they tend to stay more on the fringe of the city, as there are less projects in the already developed city. This does have downfalls, as women here are not in love with foreigners, or usually that hot for that matter. But on the flip side. The cantonese while not loaded, have always had money, so its not all that important to them. Much more difficult to run into a gold digger here.
Activites: Sports is at its top level in China right here in GZ. The asian champion football team plays in the city center. Its a great atmosphere. The Guangdong CBA basketball team. The NBA comes almost every year. Concerts, ect. Without a doubt, the best Zoo and amusement park in China, Chime Long is easy to get too. Its the only zoo ive seen in asia where the animals arent dying from herpes and despair.
Thats just off the top of my head, im sure im gonna think of things later but thats enough for now. Its more of a feeling. Beijing has lots of history, but the feeling isnt there for me, i never think " i wouldnt mind living here" Shanghai is nice to walk around, but it feels pretentious , like i would need to be a multi millionaire to enjoy it. So for living.... Guangzhou is the place for me!

Karamay, north west Xinjiang.
About 250,000 ppl. No bars, a couple of restaurants that think they serve Western food, but they don't. Uyghir food, which is good.
Traffic not too bad...no fireworks, and today, lots of snow!

No, a Kiwi/Aussie couple live downstairs and there's also 2 fellas from Ghana and 4 teachers from Nova Scotia. Incredibly, none of them drink....can you believe that!
