Q: what so special about St Patrick day?

Some weeks ago was St Patrick's day. I like that day because i like those day's that celebrate big coutaries.

For the occasion, I decided to wear my special Lucky Charm green hat to work. Something weird about it. I'm used to people glaring at me, like they've never seen a 'Merican with his briefcase walking down the street, but that day people were smiling, giggling or laughing. Especially the younger ones.

But it was fun at work. I received some high-fives by irish friends. We decided to go out for a drink. At the bar, we drank a lot, met an irish land whale - it was like an open safari! - and i couldn't help but notice that chinese people were looking at my hat and smile, smirk or giggle.

Chinese usually so intimidated and awkwardly reserved, what is so special about St-Patrick's day? Halp halp halp?

The problem is the colour of your hat. Never wear a green hat in China or Chinese speaking place. Especially for man.

Saint Patrick's Day is a religious holiday celebrated internationally on 17 March. It commemorates Saint Patrick (c. AD 387–461), the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland, and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. It is observed by the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion (especially the Church of Ireland),the Eastern Orthodox Church and Lutheran Church. Saint Patrick's Day was made an official feast day in the early 17th century, and has gradually become a secular celebration of Irish culture in general.

its special because of its religious purpose..... and people all over the world celebrate it differently
