Q: What is the strangest English personal name you found used by a local Chinese?

At our ENglish clube we have over 600 members and every now and then, I meet someone with bizarre names. The two that tie for first place i my book was a girl named "Meat" and another who named herself  "Cry",  I did not ask why.

I keep meeting girls named "Evil." No, seriously... "Hi, I'm Evil." My response is usually just "Sinner," or "I can tell."

I had a student last term who called himself "Jesus". Now, since that is a VERY common name in Puerto Rico, I actually did not find it strange at all.

What is more, he likes the Spanish pronunciation even more!

Scandinavian:

Jesus is generally a common name in the Spanish speaking world, so using the Spanish pronunciation would seem fitting.

I've heard Rain...not sure why his mom named him Rain. I was thinking it was because the popular pop artist in Korea is called Rain and his mom liked him!

Met a girl here today from the Philippines.  Sweet as can be,,,,, but poor thing named herself Kleenex !   no  I didn't really say anything,  but she could tell by my body language that I was rather dismayed.  I sure hope she looks into it and chooses something a little more appropriate for a cute young lady.

"Talent".

He was a fuerdai who'd studied overseas and was very into himself. I originally misheard him say his name was "Talon", which I think is way more badass sounding.

I had a Tom & Jerry. Tom didn't have a clue but Jerry knew what was going on. He made a point of sitting next to Tom just add more punch to the joke. I don't think he ever filled Tom in on what was happening.

I have an adult student that insists on being called 'Poofy'.

Needless to say I attempted to show him the error of his ways but my protests have so far fallen on deaf ears. He claims it's the name of a Japanese cartoon character.

Who am I to argue- 'Poofy' it is then !
