Q: What was the most satisfying time you got your way here?

Most of the time I've either so unwilling to get into an argument with people or complain about stuff that pisses me off that I let it all slide. On very rarely will I bitch or argue with people here, but when I do and I get my way, it feels amazing.

Anyone ever faced with a tough situation here, bitched and won?

Many Chinese, as individuals or as company employees, will try hard to prevail on you, or anyone else.  It is in their nature to "bully" in a way.  And that is one of the very few things that will set me off quickly.  Otherwise, I am calm and cool.

When I know I am right, I will go all the way out arguing my point of view.  But from experience I have found that I just have to be firm and convey my reasoning clerly, and it does work better that shouting my words.  Now, that does not mean that if the other side shouts at me constantly, I will remain on a calm voice.

And yes, I have won a few, and have lost a couple.

I'll let you know, another day of trying to explain visa form, which I have filled in except for family and work history. She no understand me. I say I fill in, give back to you, you show to friend, they read. So she phones my friend. then we do nothing, she goes to work, she work tomorrow all day, so maybe next day we fill in visa form...this is driving me F88888 crazy. So the day it/if  gets completed and sent in. I will celebrate. JHFCOACCSMFA FSDMFDMF AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Okay, then "casually hint" that you may be meeting up with an ex girlfriend when you go back home. If THAT does not light a firecracker under her fanny, nothing will...

In my previous school, we had to enter our marks in the computer. The computer is in Chinese.  Now most of the FT had wives or girlfriends who could help them enter the data. I was between relationships at the time. Anyway, I spent nearly a week after my "leader" (not a boss, and they kept rotating every year) to help me enter them but she kept on insisting it was not her problem but mine. Then, the day before I am supposed to leave, I got one of my students to help me. Half an hour into our work, the ligndao (leader) comes in and has a fit! That I cannot use a student to help me, against the rules etc. We  had the usual argument and she ended it with "thats not my problem".

I was beyond anger. Then, I suddenly had a moment of clarity. What would happen if I went on my Winter Holiday without entering my marks? Realizing that I really had nothing to lose, that is what I did. went home without entering the marks.

Classes began again, and my bosses (all of them ) were livid and demanding that I return my salary for january. I very calmly explained the situation, that it was time to go and no one wanted or was able to help me and that our "lingdao" kept insisiting it was not her problem.

Right on cue, she got up and repeated it again and again that that was not her problem and that they should not renew my contract at the end of the term.

Long story short, after hearing us both , the bosses decided it was the "lingdao"s fault, not mine. She was ordered to pay back her bonus (around 3,000 RMB). She also lost her postilion as lingdao for the rest of the term.  And, by the end of that term, I was given a student to help me enter the scores. I would read the score and she would enter it. In just one morning, we would be done.
