Q: What were the big problems you had dating a Chinese?

One of the biggest problems I had with my girl friend was '' the eyes of the people'', I didn't clue into this for along time or how much it meant, since I don't care what people think or stare at me for. When they stare at my GF, they think she is with me for money, a prostitute. What problems did you have that should seem insignificant but aren't?

Some of her co-workers and bosses still (after 3 years) think I'm a CIA informant. Seriously. I've been followed and wire-taped. People who work for the government and understand English regularly listen to our phone conversations. Once and a while when we are talking to each other, I'll tell her, "Honey, I want to tell you a secret...I love you!!"

The irony is, since I can't read that much Chinese, one could lay the national secrets at my feet, and they would be "safe" with me. I would look at the list and say, "Oh, okay, I would like the pork and peppers, please."

It's sad, really...

I could write a book on this subject but I won't bore you all.

Yes....for many reasons but the longer you are together the more both of you will learn to deal with the issues both of you have due to the massive cultural divide and learn to adapt.

Of course there will always be ignorant people who judge and make ugly accusations, always assuming they understand it all. She's with you for your money, for your passport, she's a prostitute, etc.....Foreigners are just here to buy women, he'll leave you when he's done, you can't trust western men, etc..... Sadly such generalizations often come from not altogether inaccurate observations, but in even the most stereotypical east/west marriage of convenience, things are rarely quite that simple. I've come across this stuff aimed at myself and my wife, of course, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest; I look at those who lower themselves to such levels of ignorance, whatever their nationality, wherever they're from, as monkeys. And how mad can you get at a monkey? You'd be a fool to, right?

I was going to add a sentence to that effect, but thought it sounded a little sexually suggestive. I've already embarrassed myself enough recently saying in one post that I wanted to take a quick pole.

Yes, I know it's spelt poll! I know now anyway. Oy.

No need to care so much of people's thinking.Or will be tired, live the way we think is good is the most important thing. My mother is kind of woman who cares that so much, which makes her so unhappy most times.Poor people I would say.

My ex cared how people throught about us,so he refused to walk close with me,refuse to hand by hand with me outside. What the hell of that?
