Q: What would China be like?
What would of China been like if it was under British/French/German and so on Rule? Would it be like Hong Kong/Singapore? Broken up into different countries would we see places like Xinjiang not under China?
People wise how would they be?
I imagine it would of ended up a bit like the North American and Indian continents, the different ethnic clans would have risen up individually and I don't imagine any one of the former European colonial powers could have held it together. Then when those same powers were wringing their hands and giving back their colonies I imagine the British government would have given independence to the various factions, something like they did with the partition of India (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh (yes I know that was later)), and N. America with USA and Canada via their various troubles.
Now, whether anyone or any group in 'China' would have been able or even wanted to re-unite the nation is a moot question and unanswerable with fact, only speculation.
