Every now or then I am applying for a job ANYWHERE on the web to teach ESL in China, I get to see these lines,
-Native Speakers Only
-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or South Africa
and the most funny one,
NO DEGREE OR EXPERIENCE NEEDED BUT MAKE SURE YOU ARE A NATIVE SPEAKER !
Tell me this friends,
Either chinese people just go for white faces or they are way too retarded to think that just about ANYONE can teach ESL ! Whats wrong with them?

I need a new girl friend, no experience necessary either.
Same here. New girlfriend would be swell. Actually I prefer experience. Must enjoy jiaozi.
Sorry OP, what was your question? Something about South Africa?
TedDBayer:
OK, must have 2 years sexperience and a diploma from Walt Disney. M-I-C-K-....
When they ask you for the picture to send it to them, then you realize it's not anymore important the degrees, experience, or that you're native/non native either.
It's the face they want to see. As if they are so worthy of the best and/or so stupid to believe that in the beauty of face lays the promising and successful person they're looking for. A superficial read of one's value.
It's the same arrogance that they deserve the best that it applies to the rest of the requests.
I look at how much they pretend to pay the Native teachers. As a non native, I would feel offended. Based on what, somebody who doesn't speak English nor taught it, decides such humiliating wages? I saw adverts on this websites, where they claim for the best looking for the Native ones. When you see how miserably they set the salary, I feel that they are laughing at you and at the value of being Native and with experience in the field. Before ever proving the quality of your teaching and methods of teaching, they already know your price.
I know of one Company here, that profess to highly and specially appreciate and treat the native ones. When I see what the agency offers for a deal, I see how despicable they are and can't help myself but despise them.
Then I say to myself that if that's how they treat the natives, how worst would treat me, a non native one.
Either way, it's the face and the native English, white skin color that prevails over the non native non white teacher.
Another chance to get the job is that your look be unique, exotic, something unusual, a curiosity for people who only seeing themselves every day for 5000 years now, got bored of their own faces.
Only then, being colored skin, won't matter that much.
At least they're not even trying to be clever. Honestly, it's 2014 now, anyone falling for those had it coming big time.
Short answer : most chinese don't give a shit about the education stuff, all they want are some foreign guys to show that they're "international". FYi, not only chinese but most part of Asia is like this. But don't be sad you can get laid easily in here even if you're not white, just make up some weird foreign accent and show off your passport once in a while, works best if you come from rich country.
It's for marketing purposes...
Chinese secretly covet white people while also trying to hide it and mock them. They were brainwashed from a young age to believe white skin is more beautiful, white people are rich and powerful... blah blah blah.
Chinese people like seeing their kids with white people, it makes them feel more global and and gives them face..
Don't ask for logic.. that's the best I can do.
Not all schools or recruiters are like this... but most are... because most are stupid.
English level of Chinese recruiters and Schools (employers) is so low, that they can judge FT English proficiency only by her/his Native English passport.
The girls will still try to charge 200 rmb in the country side and 1,000 rmb in bigger cities. Doesn't matter what color you are. The answer to your question is : "There Chinese". They aren't doing anything wrong because the goal is to make a profit. They do that very well.
