Q: What you offer to eat to your Chinese Friends if they visit your Apartment? Your food or Local food?
Since food habit is really different here in China, so I wonder, if your Chinese friend visit your Apartment then what generally you offer them to eat. What you eat or what they eat?
I think it's nice to have a mix. Not just for Chinese friends, but other friends might enjoy trying a variety of stuff too.
If you've chocolate from your country they'd love that.
If you've no western food go for standard oranges, sunflower seeds etc.
My girlfriend will cook for them. It will be a long process but it will be good.
Or if we are feelling lazy I will take them to Mao Jia...good food.
My food is local food, it's what I eat every day, so no contest.

Hot pot but cooked with individual small hot pots, not a common hot pot dish -- lots of lamb, beef, pork, shrimp and so many different kinds of green vegetables plus a peanut sauce and a hot sauce. I prepare, I lay it out and they cook (the little hot pots use an alcohol-based candle).

I cook them some western food. They can cook chinese food themselves. And its the only way they are ever going to have real western food.
I have heard too many times from people that they think all American food is just hamburgers, fried chicken and pizza. So at least I can educate a few on our good food.
