Q: What's the best online TESOL course?

I have a friend who wants to come and teach in China. Any suggestions for an online TESOL course?

In general doing an online course is a waste. I'd suggest either getting an internationally recognized course like celta or saving the money and not doing one. The employers who want a dancing monkey won't care about your course and the ones who care likely won't take an online course seriously.

CELTA is the best one you can get (i have one)

but honestly it is wasted in China unless your friend is thinking about using it in other countries

if your friend is a white male, in his 20's with a degree, he should have no problem getting a job as edutainment is the order of the day in 90% of the places

I agree with the above answers; any sort of teaching certificate here is useless unless you want to teach in the bigger chains like Wallstreet or EF. But EF will actually pay for you to get your certificate if you work for them, it's one of their so called "selling points".

But if you want to teach in a standard place, then normally a degree will do. But then again, I've seen people with fake or no degrees being paid top bucks, just depends on how well you can sell your self.

TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, they are all the same, but online is useless.  Rather get the real time study one with practical  I recently applied for a few teaching jobs and a lot of places specifically did not want online qualifications.

ITTT

If your friend is up on his English, it's not that difficult. Then again, I cannot say it was easy. No it's not a CELTA, etc, but if yer friend wants a fast cert and online is ok, then maybe the ITTT will do.

Yes CELTA, Trinity, Bridge are much better but some folks just need a 30 day something.

Is it ONLY for teaching in China short term?

I've got the job lined up for him. The boss just needs him to get some kind of piece of paper that semi-qualifies him for teaching English.

Photoshop.

Can't vouch for the course itself, but it seems to be pretty popular.
