Q: What's the cheapest plane ticket you've found from China to the US (recently)?

I recently bought a round-trip ticket (direct) from Beijing to Chicago on AA and it cost me 1,300 USD. I feel like I got ripped off.

Have you done any better recently from anywhere in China to anywhere in the US (or elsewhere)?

I usually roundtrip from Shanghai to one of various cities in the US via Los Angeles or Chicago.  I always fly American Airlines so I can rack up the frequent flyer miles.  The going rate's been about $1000 +/-, although prices have started to creep up a bit lately.  $1300 seems a bit high, but then again I never fly from Beijing.  I also find the routes going through LA are a bit cheaper than going to Chicago....usually.

One tip is if you think the price for your ticket is too high...don't buy it right away.  Wait a few days and then check again.  They change the prices on their website frequently, and I usually can't make any sense of why.  For example, I checked on a flight from Nashville to Raleigh-Durham: $376 roundtrip.  Waited a couple days and the exact same fare was $208....um, ok. crying

Actually that is about the right price range, actually flying in April is cheaper if you use a Chinese airline, I got a round trip ticket from Beijing to the states for about 945US using a Hainan Airlines

789 but you have to take Boston to air Canada to Beijing or shanghai during the summer, i do not trust Canadian air lines for some reason i think it is because you never hear about them. yah but do it through a Canadian air line i think i have even found cheaper but keep in mind all these tickets are economy

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
