Q: What's up with Chinese men's long pinky nails??
so many men have short nails, except for their pinkies, which are amazingly long...it's a little creepy.
It is really disgusting.
I will never date a guy who let his nail grow so long!!!
Someone told me before that it's a sort of status symbol among rural people/peasants. If a man has a long pinky nail, it means that he doesn't do manual labour. It's not just men who grow them though. I've seen women with it too. If they still insist on growing it in the big city, it's a sure-fire sign that they're migrants from some backwards place.
Yeah, it's a little creepy but I can see how it would be incredibly useful to dig out those hard to reach boogers. I've already started growing my pinky nail out.
In my studies of Traditional Chinese palmistry, the small fingers length is a sign of your social ability. The longer it is the more social skills the person usually has. Years ago if you had a short pinky finger your doctor might recommend you grow your nail longer. Although, in the asking of why? to many of my students, they most often say, it is for fashion or the consider it useful for cleaning the wax out of the ear, NOT to mine for gold in the nose.
