Q: What's the funniest thing you have seen in China?

To be honest in most countries you will seem something that makes you laugh, whether it is someone doing something that is crazy, or something that seems just over the top. Comments please

The techno-colored dogs/ hairstyles always make me giggle.

But funniest would have to be a toss up. Once stopped to talk to this woman and little boy and asked her if this was her son. Without missing a beat, the kid looked up at me with a huge shit-eating grin and said "I'm not her son. I'm too cute to be her son"

The other was a local guy wanting to take me to a "strip show" but I only tell that story when I'm out drinking.

Its usually the Chinglish on clothing. My two favorites were a tiny little girl wearing a bright pink shirt with white lettering that said "lard". And my other favorite was a mother wheeling a baby carriage wearing a long sweater reading "niggars love blonds." Actually got a picture of that one.

I saw some regular looking middle age dude with a shirt that said "I piss myself"

I hope I can add to this as I check my photos. One funny thing I saw was a shop that had had the front window broken and instead of taking out the broken pane the owner put up another frame behind the original one, not the same size, and fitted it with what was obviously a left over piece of glass so when you looked into the broken window you saw another window behind it! Doh!

I don't remember if this was the funniest, but it's definitely memorable. I was talking to a friend of mine, and some young guy drove by in a small truck. He looked surprised. After he had already driven by, he turned to say hello to me, without paying attention to where he was driving. He could easily have run into other students or the gate. I mean, I've had people stare at me as they drive past, but at least they pay attention to where they're going! My friend and I giggled afterwards.

It might not be the funniest, but the last time I laughed hard was on a big, flat, empty street. A guy on a bicycle, young, sober, with no obstruction around him or holes in the ground. Then out of fucking nowhere he fell down, and had that really surprised look on his face!

I laughed in his face really loud.

The places and locations that people choose to piss, take a shit, etc;

under a street lamp at night, when stepping in the shadows would be much less obvious,

in front of a door  to a busy storefront as people are trying to walk in and out,

dropping thier kids pants and holding them over a trashcan when the freakin WC is only ten paces away.

Have any other guys been standing at a urinal doing thier thing when all of the sudden a female janitor appears and starts mopping at your feet?

I was at Wutai Shan and saw a Monk with an iPhone which I thought was a strange paradox.

Not funny but strange. The other day I saw two guys standing unharnessed on top of an old 50mt tall brick chimney slowly knocking down the bricks with sledge hammers. They had their backs to the outer edge with their heels almost hanging over it as they swung the hammers knocking off bricks and working their way around the rim. I work in a safety related field and I wish I had my camera as this was extremely dangerous even by Chinese standards.

DaBen:

I've seen three different buildings being taken down my unharnessed guys destroying the wall under their feet. I'm actually surprised you say it's not the Chinese standard (but my experience of watching such buildings being torn down is limited to three).

Chinglish sign inside a hospital:

"Foreign Anal Probes: 3rd Floor"

The Chinese translated to: "Proctology Department: 3rd Floor"

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
