Q: What's going on with those spoiled things?
My sister is 25,she just visits me in Shanghai.I picked her up yesterday night(Friday),cooked her breakfast this morning and kept her for doing shopping while with her complaining all the time.
In the evening I finally find myself a bit personal time for enjoying a cup of coffee in starbuck as she refused to come along with me.Then I just had my parents called me twice in one hour and got very mad at me for leaving my 25 years old sister at home alone after I explained to them that I had been keeping company with her before coffee in starbuck. My mom told that I should stay with her if she wants to stay at home tonight.WTF.I have worked from Monday to Friday.I have no right to have a cup of coffee out without keeping company with her just for a while?
My sister complained that I took too long to find her resturant to eat.
She complained that my bed is too hard and I did not buy another quilt for bed to keep her warm while I told her that I am gonna cancel my renting one week's latter and I do not want to buy too much stuffs. But since she still feels cold ,I told her to buy one but she suddently become emotionally and got mad at me and not buy it.I bought a small light carpet for her though. But she still complained that I did not buy her bigger warmmer carpet for her to sleep with my parents.WTF
Now I have been blamed by the whole family for not treat her well.
Oh my goodness,I am only 27 and have been blamed so much for not taking care of a 25 years old.I remember the first time I came to Shanghai was 24,I did not know anyone here and I sourced everything out myself without complaining and acted like a mad baby.
My parents were angry about me on the phone.I just turned the call off.I feel they are crazy.
Chinese people tend not to be very self sufficient, and certainly not very aware of anything much.
It's your life so tell your family to pull their heads in.
If it feels good, do it. If you don't like something, don't do it.

Indeed. It sometimes feels to me as though women have distinct phases to go through here. Up to 20 years old is education, 20-30 is find a husband, then make a baby son. And if the parents are old fashioned they will find the husband for her. I think the system is designed to make women helpless so they need their parents to stay with them after marriage. Then, by the time the woman learns to fend for herself she can cook for the elderly parents. Its as if they are being taught to become the family matriach in later life, not indepentant young women. The apprenticeship lasts till they are in their 40s, not their early 20s.

I am really tired to deal with this spoiled lady. The problem is family education,my parents never said anything to stop her being self-centre.
i wonder when chinese parents think a girl is a woman who should take care of herself, if your still a girl, maybe you should stay at home with mom and dad.
i have noticed the immaturity of males and females here, no clue about the cost of anything until they leave home. it would seem that after the 5000 year civilization has evolved to rule the world, the culture would have a rule for maturity, your a man at 30 and a woman at 28, something, but when i ask about this, i always get the blank stare.
If your parents don't think your 25 year old sister can carry her own, then who is to blame ? Certainly not Miss Vicky.
I think they are being unreasonable and your sister is too spoiled.
She is 25 years old, she is not a little baby. If it was my sister or brother I would yell at them for being annoying and tell them to leave. They can come back when they are an adult and learn some manners.
If my parents called me up and tried to yell at me for it. I would tell them that they shouldn't yell at me, because I was the one that they raised properly. They should yell at the spoiled brat they messed up with raising.

Tired with a" little queen".She never learn if she has never been independant. My parents would never say anything to stop her bad manners.
Agree with Spiderbonez, stop making the unnecessary drama here...

Your sister is a whiny little spoiled rotten baby. Buy her a pacifier, not a duvet.
Hope the rest of your holiday gets better.
Strawberry66:
She shouted to me again today but I tried my best to keep her companied.
bill8899:
She shouts at you? I guess she owns your apartment? Let her buy the things she wants. Borrow a dog and let it bite her! (joking) Soon she will leave and you can go to Starbucks in peace.

Strawberry/Victoria has a very important role on this site and i hope the admin does not harmonise her.
Her posts, while some might find them annoying, serve as a good insight to local ways of thinking and logic and I hope she continues to post her 'thoughts'
any newbie to this site can use these posts - and Victoria's (which i hope the admin will unblock) as a window into the thought process of local girls they encounter. She is not inciting racist comments in her posts, unlike some.

I support your right to post if you want: you have only yourself to blame if you receive receive replies you don't like.

I agree with Sorrel...
At least Vicky's posts aren't wumao nationalistic nonsense.
They are just the products of jumbled up neurotic local girl thinking. I find them quite amusing...
If she wasn't here it would just be us expats and ex-expats standing at the bar griping about this and that.
She's the light-relief board mascot! ![]()
that was actually quite an interesting and coherent personal story. the grammar even made me wonder if you had help typing it.
what do i think? this is china, so hardly unexpected.
family is for life, unfortunately. when i was growing up without a father, i often wished i had kept the recept, so i could return him to the store. "this family member is defective. i would like a replacement please."
