Q: What's the longest you've gone without breaking one of the various laws in China?

I think I'm constantly breaking them here whether I realise it or not, so I can't say I could keep count, but I wonder if anyone could be a law abiding citizen/resident here in China?

Where I live the society really runs on guanxi so I cannot do things i'm legally supposed to be able to do without it.  Therefore, if you are from BJ, SH or GZ can u keep the law if u tried?

I've probably gone on for a long time without breaking any major laws. I did sit down at one of those public places once and the security guard said I couldn't sit there or lay there. I just got up and went to the coffee shop. That would be considered a minor law.

So you guys have registered with the police every time you stayed somewhere?  Not taken up employment (even if only for a couple hours) outside your registered danwei?  Never used a VPN?  Never bought counterfeit goods?

I think most people have at least broken these...

using a vpn is not illegal . it is not illegal to buy counterfeit goods. if you stay at a legit hotel you dont have to register with the police. it is the responsibility of the hotel to register foreign guest with the police. a real foreign should know basic details.

I have broken all of those and probably a few other more or less obscure minor laws. Nothing major though and I intend to keep it that way.

I don't know the laws here, like ones that say I can beat my wife with a belt. The Chinese don't respect what I would imagine are laws. I'm not out jobbing and  thieving, if I break a minor law by jaywalking or what ever, so does everyone around me.

Downloading material on foreign and internal affairs from biased, lying Western sources. Only to prove to myself that they are indeed biased, lying Western sources. 50000000 years of civilisation can't be wrong.

I haven't broke any laws that would be the same in my homecountry but as for China, probably break some small law every five min.

I only commit minor crimes myself such as genocide and the occasional regicide. I would never think of doing something terrible like jaywalking or disturbing the social harmony though.

I never bring my passport

I have only once registered with the police while at a hotel (needed the document for other purposes)

But other than that, I am clean. I even stop for pedestrians at pedestrian crossings, and I kindly signal, using an appropriate finger, to motorists honking behind me that I have taken note of their selfish impatience.

0, I have been in violation of Rule CM2.25 since visa application, sinobear notified me of this: foreigners with penis larger than 2.25 cm are not permitted entry. I came on a double entry "no strings attached" visa, myself.

When I got my Visa, I was warned to obey Chinese law including no sex with women. I wonder if they kept score?

Quoted from Wikipedia, about the constitution of the RPC
Article 35 of the 1982 State Constitution proclaims that "citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly, of association, of procession, and of demonstration."

So, with the Great Firewall and the press censorship, does the CCP breaks its own laws ? Or do I break a law by taking the Article 35 at face value ?
