Did a lesson for my high schoolers on American universities. At the end of it all, I had a round of questions. Told em they could ask me anything they wanted. Anything.
There was always a silence, before eventually, the top two questions:
"Are American universities really safe?"
"What do you mean?"
"Everyone does drugs. And many people have guns on campus."

They always tell me damn it is so expensive because we are out of state plus traveling costs too much. The other question I sometimes get is that they admit that they are shy when they go there and they ask how can we break out of our shell. I tell them to join some clubs and organizations and socialize with other students.
Never saw a gun on my College campus, but yes, there were tons of drugs, especially for Spring Fest. This by the way, was in the very center if the Mid-West...
the stupidiest questions i get are centered around, is it like american pie.
A kid set to to to high school in USA asked me; "Do all the girls in American high school look like the ones in Gossip Girl?"
I said "no"
Then he asked; "What about Glee?"
me "sorry dude"
him "High School Musical?"
me "same answer"
him "Will many of them look like Anna Paquin?"

Wasnt Harvey Mudd a villain in the original Star Trek series?
I don't know about universities but the most ridiculous question I have been asked in China is:
"Are there many people in England who can speak English as well as you do?".
The best one I have had is 'If you're from Scotland, why do you speak English?, Will I have to learn another language if I go there?'
My answer being; er, no.
