Q: What's the most satisfying "I speak Chinese" moment you've ever had?
Easy one this - and it happens all the time!
When an asshole says something about me or my nationality/race that isn't very nice but they assume I don't understand because I'm a stupid foreigner that can't speak Chinese.
I then reply to them in Chinese with a selected answer that I keep in my armoury.
I just love to watch them curl up in embarrassment. ![]()
Kaiwen:
The context is mildly insulting to out and out racism. Mild insults are usually met with a calm "mei limao" (not polite) or "kan ni shuo de" (watch what you are saying). Racist comments will be answered as appropriate to the situation and who it is I am replying to but I am capable of giving as good as I get - even in the recipient's own language!
Stiggs:
I like kan ni shuo de, haven't heard it said before.
Is it something that Chinese would say or is it translated from English?

When I was in Taiwan over Golden week, my Chinese friend was riding in the front, chatting with the driver. I heard the driver say my eyes were beautiful and Taiwanese girls would love me. ![]()
I said XieXie, which pleasantly surprised him. We had a brief conversation about Taiwanese girls and their interests, and he strongly encouraged me to move to Taiwan and find a wife. Taiwanese people are awesome.
