Q: What's the most unpleasant moment of your day?
Typical day in China! What part you hate more?
Me is bus ride to work. People smell from arms, cigarette breath...always i fight not to vomit my breakfast.
I hear ya. For me it's the subway ride to work each day. Total nightmare. I sometimes think I'm developing a deep loathing towards humans.
Crossing the road on Chaoyang road in Beijing in peak hour. one step to late or to soon could mean the end
Subway - really smelly this time of year.
In a country that produces everything for cheap why hasn't deodorant caught on???
If it's a Monday, my first morning class. They never want to participate, so it's usually boring for me. Well, there was that one time a week or two ago, where instead of being asleep they were muttering, probably studying for some test very loudly. Why do they think that's ok?
crimochina:
Jnus learn the power of the red pen. if you factor in for participation let them know if they are doing work for other classes , texting, sleeping, or in anyway not paying attention they will lose 5 points from their grade. implement this rule at the beginning of the semester. no one sleeps in my class . and texters or unprepared students know what to expect. one of the reasons i love teaching uni in china.
GuilinRaf:
Like Crimo says, start at the begining. Be a "drill sergeant" from day one and NEVErRmake an exception.. As the term passes, they realize that as long as the rules are kept, the class can be fun and informative. I use lots of role-play and humor BUT the minute someone pulls out a gameboy, or homework there is Heck to pay!
I agree with Jnus with any class that doesn't participate. I work at an English prep school for students who want to attend college in English speaking countries. Most of my students are great, but the few who think they can survive without speaking English, and proceed to talk throughout class in Chinese and ignore any instructions given, I want to wring their necks.
Second would be anytime I'm stuck outside in winter, waiting for a taxi/bus. Harbin is serious about winter.
Waking up,, doesn't matter where I am. I'm just not a morning person.
Rush Hour- Should I say more??
HugAPanda:
Weve all been hoping for you to lose the frogger game fer reel!
mattaya:
We've not Weve and real not reel......lol! And you like to correct others mistakes and boast about and laugh at others....geez look at your own grammar.
HugAPanda:
LOL and fer should have been for... if it wasn't a... tease on your supposed NC upbringing. Sorry.... forgot you wouldn't get that.
The worst part of my day is when I log into echinacities and see that all my answers got voted down :(
Jnusb416:
If that's the worst part of your day, you must be having a blast.
TedDBayer:
half of mine either get changed or go to Yhe Twighlght Zone
bill8899:
I was going to vote you down as a prank, but I feel kind today.
Waking up at 6.45 am everyday to go to class where the some teachers can literally bore students to death...![]()
An excellent question! For me, it's the INCONSIDERATE,LOUD CHINESE ASSHOLES directly above my apartment slamming their doors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( * Second, is their SELFISH,RIDICULOUS LOUD TALKING AT ALL HOURS!!!!!!!!!!! :(
I don't have too many bad moments, as I've learned to avoid the ones I can. The worst I can't avoid is traffic. To avoid public transport I use an e-bike, but that means I'm in the traffic. I've split the rush hour(s) into two distinct times, 5 - 6 crazy hour, 6 - 7 suicide hour. I cannot avoid crazy hour, buy I do try and get home before suicide hour when possible.
