Q: What's the pollution like in Chengdu?
I've always loved that city and was wondering about pollution levels there.
RiriRiri:
Whoa, I see some readings of 800+ in Xinjiang... WTF is going on there.
I hoped to get info from people living in Chengdu. Makes sense to me to get info from people there. Anyone can do a baidu search and get false information.
I currently stay in Chengdu. Generally I do not see a big difference in Chinese cities air pollution level. It just depends with what you are comparing it.
It's about 8-16 C here (lately a bit colder - around 10 C during the day) with last two days a bit of rain (not much) - today no rain but also no sunshine.
The sky is grey and it's rare to see a blue sky (we had it about 10 days ago for a day or two but that was it).
Otherwise no 'fog' of whatever origin. But when I go to Shanghai it makes on me very similar impression - just with the difference that there you can see the blue sky more frequently (but also have more frequently so called 'fog').
If you ask if it's possible to go on the street and breath normally so yes, it's possible. If you ask if it is clean city with fresh air so it's not - so far I did not find any such in China but I was so far just in the bigger cities or their vicinity.
