Q: What's with public announcements in restaurants?

I think it is happening more and more recently, at least I don't remember it a year ago. Restaurants doing announcements over their speakers. It's already super noisy in most restaurants due to TV's and endless loops of music, but now this.....

After air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution is solved, someone needs to look at noise pollution, light pollution. I must say the people in this country are good at actively making it hell on earth.

I dine out very frequently at upper-end type restaurants and I have never come across this at all.

Perhaps in MacDonalds or Burger King or something like that...

Scandinavian:

nope, in the last week I've heard this in a hot pot restaurant, in a steak house, and a dim sum restaurant. Perhaps a southern thing.
