1) America does a lot of business with China but acts really austere and chides them a lot, usually ceremonially, before getting down to business.

2) China does lots of business with America and owns a ton of America's debt but blames America for pretty much all its problems and portrays itself, to its own people, as a hapless victim of 'America's Bond-villan-like "harming" and "feeling hurting" of China. They keep promising to shift their ecomomic focus away from America but they also keep promising to end one child, end key schools, etc.

They're like two best friends who wont stop bickering and making everyone else really uncomfortable, even though they seem to spend every moment together.
