Q: What's the total death count in Beijing after storms?

Hope all is fine for all those of you living in Beijing.

Chinese websites say it's 37 people. Probably thousands of people also lost their cars, while some who have ground floor apartments were probably flooded.

It was really, really terrible. I just stayed inside. It was like that scene from Forest Gump in Vietnam where it's raining. Crazy crazy.

150mm of rain on AVERAGE.

yeah read the same around 37 but sure many more were lost in the storms. Just was crazy the next day blue sky and no signs of damage. Good work must go out to the health and safety teams for cleaning up the mess.

I usually follow the weather, but for some reason this week I did not do so.  Thanks to Brisguy's warning I was able to load up on some stuff, so I spent a comfortable time watching the rain and moives.  I stayed home as  i remember last years storm and how a couple of workers were sucked down a manhole and drowned.

Yet as of yesterday afternoon, not a clue was left of the storm.

Read something interesting: someone said you can tell how the wealth distribution is in Beijing by looking at which streets got flooded and which didn't.

GuilinRaf:

I think that is true just about everywhere. It definitely is the case in San Juan, PR where I come from.

They SAY 37, but my wife says it's more because after like 40 deaths or something in a disaster officials have to be fired.
