Q: What's the weather like back home? And how do you classify it?

I was just looking at my uni's website, and it's got a weather report for the next few days.

29 degrees (C) - warm

32 degrees - hot. etc

My hometown puts 'hot' as a little higher - like 35. (but then, we'd also get 80-90% humidity - which sucked!)

Also, 'cold' is closer to 8degrees, 'chilly' at say 12 degrees. (yeah, great in winter sitting in the 18degree sun, thinking it's a bit cool Tongue)

"Australia has five seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and F*ckYou. F*ckYou doesn’t have a set date it just happens randomly during the rest of seasons."

Today is summer, and very pleasant it is too.

I'm from Kansas. As long as there's no ice falling from the sky, and no tornadoes sending us to Oz, it's a nice day out.

We wouldn't consider it cold until it gets to 0 (C) or below

We wouldn't consider it hot until 36 (C) or above

Spring and Fall last about a month each. That's when the twisters show up too.

Worst weather in the world.

Seems to me that Brisbane is getting hotter all the time.

I used to have a Scottish mate who moved to Coochimudlo in an effort to get off the piss.  He moved back after 18 months complaining he'd never drank so much in his life.

Knowing him as I did, I doubted that.

Just thinking of him now reminds me of one of the funniest things I've ever seen.  The Scotsman and myself were playing golf one time up on the Sunshine Coast and he managed to hit the ball into his own forehead.  Used a 3 wood.  It was very funny at the time, and still is.  Name of Louey.  Early in the day you were just chance of understanding him but by the 4th or 5th you were no chance.  Hahahhah...

Like most of us on here I have lived a lot of places, but I can tell you about the weather on the Texas Gulf Coast down by Mexico-  hot, humid, brilliant sunshine, and kept nice by a cool breeze off the Gulf.  Hot  87 - 101F ;  Cold   45 - 30F (freezing very unusual) Lotsa rain, not too much flooding though, once a year I guess on average and nothing that can't be dealt with even then....  Hurricane close every 4+ years?  direct hit maybe once or twice in a person's lifetime. I would say the biggest climate worry down there for the uninformed would be sunburn.  The sun is strong down there.

We had a 'blizzard' here a few weeks ago. About 8 inches of snow in... 18 hours? well, overnight. They closed schools....

About two weeks ago it snowed in zhongshan. That's like snow in Mackay (same latitude).

Today I'm in shorts and a tshirt and thinking about putting that bamboo thing back on the bed because it's so warm at night. I don't know what it is called. Everything is wet....floors, walls, towels and clothes won't dry.

Being from England I can make an educated guess that the weather is currently cold and shitty. No clarification needed. Just shitty.

Pretty cold but at night you can see stars and during daytime the sky has this odd color... kind of like Curacao just without the risk of getting blitzed.

I grew up in Melbourne and still find myself back there from time to time.  Melbourne's a great place to visit.  The rule of weather in Melbourne is this... If you don't like it, just hand on a bit.

On one famous afternoon around '85 I was on the beach down Chelsea way and it went from 41 down to about 20 in an hour or two.  You could see this great sandstorm coming across the water and getting off the beach before it hit us was the mission.

Shining_brow:

When I first was in Melbourne - early morning - cool (under 10 degrees). It would then warm up by about 10am (18+ degrees), then the winds would come through, and we'd have a full-on thunderstorm (sometimes hail) around midday-2pm (which would also drop the temperature by about 8 degrees), and then it would clear up for a nice afternoon into a comfortable evening.

It was like this about 4-5 days a week (oddly, usually weekdays!)

Yes, that's right.  Temp up, temp down.  Rail, hail and shine all in the same day.  That's the way it is down there.  Great city though.
