Q: What's wrong with him?
I went to an interview for sales manager postion and the boss told me he hoped that I could join his company. He told that I could discuss the salary with him after I decide o take this job. So like 4 days latter, I messaged to him to show my interest in taking the job and I asked him about his salary structure for this role. After 2 days of my message, he replied and told that he's been busy in the exhibition and he told me to tell my salary expectation.
I then asked him if he's participating the Shanghai exhibition out of polite. Then I told him my salary expectation is 9000rmb+commission of the whole sales team.
Then he just replied that he's in Shanghai exhibition without mentioning salary. That's our last message on wechat on last Friday, It has been two days and he went silent.
I just don't understand what's wrong with him? Is that hard for him to tell that now he thinks that I am not suitable for the job or my salary request is out of his budget?
Why went silent? Is it rude?

He finished exhibition on Yesterday. And still there's no message from him. I don't really expect that job anymore.
To not give a courtesy response is indeed rude, but more to the point- unprofessional. If that is truly what he did, not reply, then I would think twice before working for that firm.
*of course there could be extenuating circumstances for his failure to reply. For instance he could be suffering from a bad case of rigor mortis.

TBH, if the interviewer was Chinese, don't expect an answer unless you get the job.
if the interviewer was not Chinese, maybe filling the vacant position was not a priority after an exhibition.
If the last message was on a Friday, it is the weekend, and don't expect to hear until tomorrow at the earliest.
I would expect about a week between doing an interview and hearing back, because there would be other candidates to consider.

I am interested in this job I am talking about coz it's an international sales manager job to lead a new saies team immediately. A management experience is good for long term career development.
The interviewer is a Chinese who owns this company. He interviewed me on last Saturday(weekend though).
Our last conversation is on this Friday.
Well, at least he should tell me that he needs to interview several candidates more instead of just avoiding to answer me. I feel annoyed by his manners. If I am not being jobless, I wouldn't even consider this job after being treated like this.

an employer is under no obligation to tell you if they are interviewing other people.
you have not been hired and the most they owe you is an answer on whether you have been successful or not.
in fact an employer would probably consider it bad manners on the part of a candidate if the candidate kept asking if they were interviewing other people.
as i said, sometimes a candidate may have to wait for a week to 10 days before hearing back.

the best thing to do, i used to find, when looking for a job, is keep applying for them and not be sitting by my phone waiting for a response from any.
you suck it in and move on.
if a positive response comes back, it is always more welcome because it has not been expected.
I have never expected to be offered jobs as my right after an interview, but as a positive bonus.
don't waste time dwelling or obsessing on why you have not got a reply - just move on.
to be honest, you think the guy is rude for not replying?

I applied hundreds of jobs. I went to like 20 interviews, but nothing works out.
I feel I am not wanted by most job at this age. I feel too sad, I think I am gonna give up on office job,
Maybe just to go work in shop, or factory to do labor work.
Most companies ask if I'm married or when I want to get married.
At age of 30, I wrote in my resume that I was working as an international sales manger, while I was applying manager jobs, most don't want me after interviewing me. I applied sales job, some companies think I am overqualified and didn't want to hire me
I feel this life is too heavy for me.
I really wish that I can end up my life.
All of you are too busy trying to get into Viki's pants to approach this logically. She requested 9000 plus commission based on the entire sales team performance. That's ridiculous for someone in her position. Of course I wouldn't continue negotiations with her. And ignoring someone is typical behavior in China (so nothing wrong). Learn how to be more realistic about your value and salary requirements. Especially for someone who comes off as desperate as she does, bugging the guy over the weekend.

2. I did get offered with 9000rmb+commission by a company but I refused the job which I regret. It's Shanghai, a 10 m2 room in a shared apartment costs 2500rmb. 9000rmb as the base for a manager is a reasonable request I think. If I am so qualified to be a sales manager, I would ask 12K instead. But I am not. So I ask less than 10K.
3. I didn't bother the boss on the weekend, I messaged him on Friday. Actually it was him sent me message at night or asked me to meet him on the Saturday.

I don't think it is unreasonable, especially for Shanghai.
However, I wouldn't have contacted him over the weekend or expect a quick reply on the weekend. But the salary expectations seem fair. And Chinese do tend to move quickly when they want to hire someone so contacting him over the weekend isn't a deal breaker like it would be in North America.
Why do you consider it unreasonable? Base salary plus commission percentage related to sales team performance is pretty standard.

PS: I never contacted him on the weekend, It was the boss who messaged me at very late night or on the weekend. Now he just ignores me by not confirming my salary request, screw him. I am not expecting any answer from him anymore. If I can't find a job, I'll go work in a shop or resturant or work on any part time jobs first.
PPS: I hate repeating again and again.I have been looking for a long time and still I don't get a job in Shanghai. The competition in this city is crazy! Should I leave?

only you know what kind of job you want, your qualifications, your experience etc.
this is the kind of decision a 30 year old adult should be able to make for themselves.
you say that you have been looking for a job since before Spring Festival - that is only 2 months ago, not 'a long time'
take some responsibility for your life choices - you are 30 years old.
by asking random people on the internet, you are not demonstrating that you are a good manager.
who would want to hire a manager who makes life choices based on internet strangers 'advice'?
a good manager can weigh up options and make a decision for a team.
you might as well consult 'I Ching' as ask people here to decide things for you.
take responsibility for your own life - this is an opportunity for you to grow as a person and show adult qualities, or do you want to remain infantalised for the remainder of your life?

And I never said I am a good manager, in fact that I am not qualified.
Usually the people who think they are mature are immature. I never said I am mature or qualified enough to be a manager even though I am more qualified than many chinese managers.
PS: I have been looking for job since December, 2016.3 monthes ago. Too long，and life is just so expensive while having been jobless for 3 monthes

I messaged him for confirming and said that the salary can be negotiated. The boss just told that he will be replying this week. I think he found more interesting candidates to interview.
