Q: What's your Chinese name?
Since Chinese often adopt the craziest names in English, when I first arrived here I decided to turn the tables on them and choose something unusual too.
My name is 肥猫 - pang mao - fat cat

First came from my actual last name. The Kai came from randomly closing my eyes and picking something out of the dictionary.
My name is Laowai and i'm proud of it.

I get that one too. must be their name for smith hahahahaha when Im at home in Aus just for fun I will call out to my wife in a crowed Asian shopping centre Laowai!!! every body looks exept my wife she cringes behind the freezer section God it feels good to get my own back
randomly close eyes and point names from dictionary, that's a good idea
I have about 4 different Chinese names.
The 2 more interesting ones for this discussion are Ma Wei (horse tail - cos I have long hair in a pony tail), and Wo Jiao - because when someone asked me my name early on, I replied "Wo jiao <name>"... my pronunciation was crap, so she thought my Chinese name is "Wo Jiao".
When I started my lessons I did not have a Chinese name so one day I caught my teachers calling me 打死了 what at the time they translated as 'beat someone to death'...
My name is Dacil and I did not want any name that started with 大 as any names similar to mine but pronounce wrong could mean things like big elephant etc...
So i decided to name myself 叶子 after my favourite Taiwanese song, but I was told that name was very 'taiwanese drama-ish' in the end I heard someone else calling me 达西 (that's how they call Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice) so decided to keep 叶 as surname and 达西 as first name.
Better to have male name than 'beat someone to death...'

I'd say, a teacher with the name of "beat someone to death" would be FANTASTIC motivation for students to actually study... wish I had it!!! :DDD
I took the original meaning of my first name "Frederic" (Fried/Reich : peaceful ruler) and turned it into Chinese : 王安龙. The 龙 is just for fun.
a few local people at markets near me and landlady call me jia mei...i decided to look it up (i thought they were making fun or something strange) when landlady started to put the hanzi 佳美 on my fa piao.
so i kept it
Chen Wei Lun I had to have a chinese name for my DL (since they claimed they couldn't print an english one on there), so I took my mother in laws family name, and my wife picked the surname.

海笛亚 Chinese teacher called me that all through high school so I figured why not stick with it
名优 i am told this would be my name. mingyou. when I use translator it says 特德
My name is Riana and they said Ana will be my Chinese name 
Funny everyone on the street seems to know me, no matter what street or city. They call me Laowai... really smart people.
My name in China is my English name. I am not going to change it because I live here, if they cannot pronounce my whole name they can just call me by my first name, Ray, which is easy enough even for Chinese. My name reflects who I am and where I am from. Even the ones who do know it rarely use it anyway.
My Chinese name is Evan. If they can't say Seven, they have serious problems already with English. If I get the annoying people keep asking me for Chinese name I tell them
白巧克力.... A few reasons 1. It's fairly easy to write the characters 2. People take the hint that I don't want/need a chinese name, since mine is easy enough to pronounce.
