Q: What's your favorite China-exclusive double standard?

Sadly, most of them seem worldwide problems, like how women generally work harder but get paid less.

It doesn't take very much money to change someone's mind. But I've also noticed that there are really no double standards that are exclusive to China.

You dont understand  the feelings of chinese people! If china sells weapons to other countries is out of kindness and not for imperialist agendas. Such as the chinese sea or the diaoyu island, part of china since the Big Bang, created by the eunuch Xie Da Bao from the ancient celest court with the help of the Panda dragon of Jade!

When someone random unkown person who has studied English for more than 10 years critisises and mocks your Chinese with unintelligible english gibberish....while you are having a conversation with another chinese person with no problems.

And you thank that stranger for pointing that out (in chinese and they understand).

nicholasba:

it always amuse me in some ways how chinese people like to state the obvious....hey look a laowai!

can you speak chinese?(after you were talking almost an hour on the phone in chinese)

and so on...

anywat talking about double standards, let see how chinese interfere with other countries when they host their socalled "enemies", and at the same times they keep on critizing other countries when in their view they interfere...

I love the way Chinese people feel they can ask the most personal and offensive questions to non-Chinese people 'because the are curious'.

These are questions that they would never ask another Chinese person who is a stranger to them, and then they 'get offended' if they are asked the same questions in return or refuse to answer.

When asked such questions on the street, i respond by saying 'i will answer when you give me your answer to the same question'.

That shuts most of them up fast.

RandomGuy:

There are tons of things that they would never allow themselves to do to another Chinese yet think it's perfectly normal and acceptable to do these to a non-Chinese. My most hated moment in China is the elevator because people think that it's okay to talk out loud about "the laowai" in a 2sqm box as if I couldn't hear them. Some things that they allow themselves to do with non-Chinese. Talking in your back out loud as if you were deaf. Saying rude, borderline racist, things in your face, because obviously you don't understand even though they heard you speaking Chinese 10 seconds ago. Making assumptions on you in front of everyone, this laowai must be a {insert profession, most often teacher or businessman}. One thing I am especially strict about is to preserve my privacy. I once had a chitchat with a lady in my old building and within a week I felt like every single residents in the entire neighborhood knew everything about me. Why so? I was walking around and heard people saying it's the German dude who does {profession} which didn't happen before the chitchat. So now I don't reveal anything about me to people around my home, they can ask all they want, and my wife also won't say anything, people always ask her where is her laowai husband from and what he does, she says it's not their business, screw them. They also somehow think that we are all clowns and that we all have this stereotypical outgoing American sitcom youth personality. They can't seem to understand that some people are introvert and like to be left alone, that we don't want to be the center of attention. Seriously China has made impressive economic progresses but social progresses are nowhere to be found and the people often are some of the most backward and stupid and narrow minded I have met in my entire life. I truly believe that censorship is directly responsible for the way Chinese see us, they can't see laowai for all of our diversity and multiple faces, they only have access to limited "approved" content to forge their view of the world and think that we all match what they see on TV.

I.  China:  Do not interfere with our culture with your values.

II. China:  Set up Confucius Institutes all over western countries like USA, Canada, Australia.....etc., usually at universities.  Objective:  Here are our dalu values, you adopt them.

Example: Chinese embassy in Australia found funding their foreign students in spreading communism and dalu values to Australians. So you always see a whole bunch of mainland zombies protesters yelling whenever something china doesn't like takes place, in Australia, such as the Dalai Lama visiting.

Other activities being caught:

Weaponry /  Tactics

1. Hypocrisy, double standards, hidden agenda. Red semantics.

2. Money, bribes.

3. Psychological manipulation, screwing laowais' consciousness, altering their culture, replacing their values with dalu values camouflaged as authentic Chinese values. ie fakes.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
