Q: What's your favorite vacation spot in China

What's your favorite vacation spot in China and why?

I'm looking to travel during the upcoming spring festival but I don't know where to go yet.

Hainan, the beaches of Hainan, or Kunming, parts of Yunnan, or parts of Guangxi on the bay.

You got an off-license nearby? Travel there and travel home. Go near a train station at your peril.

Stay home. Go to Guilin or Sanya a couple of weeks later once all the garbage has been cleared. Accommodation will be cheaper and it will actually be possible to relax.

If you actually want to go somewhere, go to Hong Kong or Taiwan, it will be less chaotic than the mainland. I would also put Macau on the list, but its just so small that it gets boring after a few hours unless you want to gamble in the casinos

oh, see this for a relaxing vaction snapshot http://shanghaiist.com/2012/10/02/sanya_beach_covered_in_rubbish_left.php#photo-1

Shanghai. I went there this past Spring Festival and it was much less crowded than usual as all the migrant workers had gone home. Even the hotel was less expensive than normal. The only minor hassle was getting to/from Shanghai as the train stations are chaotic at best during this time.

I like Yunnan. It's so varied there: you can explore the foothills of the Himalayas, trek through jungle, explore remote minority villages, visit coffee and tea plantations..etc.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
