Q: What's your input on Rockies English School?

Hi everybody,

It's been a while, quite a long while. I would like to ask you, whether this school it worths to work for. They seem to be serious through the job add but I need to hear from your experience how reliable they are and how do they treat their teachers.

They claim that "We are not an agent or intermediary, and the locations that we recruit for are either directly owned or partnered schools that use the Rockies designated curriculum. We have recruited more than 1000 teachers in the last 15 years. We can provide teacher references to prospective teachers. Rockies English School is founded by Canadians and currently operates different locations throughout China. Our vision is to set the highest quality English training standards for Chinese students. We are looking for responsible, dedicated, energetic, and creative people who feel they can contribute to raising educational standards in ESL learning."

Is that as they claim to be or not? Any insight will be very much appreciated. Thank you all for taking your time to share your thoughts.

Rockies has a well deserved horrible reputation in the business. They have the habit of registering their employees under fake job titles, oftentimes through seedy visa operators spinkled all over China and, of course, when the PSB comes to check they're nowhere to be found.

And also, you can forget about your last paycheck.

We don't GOOG-le in China. You might find more reviews through GOOG. Just search 'rockies in china review'. Also look at Dave's ESL Cafe. I open it, but Dave's uses Google based search, so I have to look through all threads to find anything on Rockies.

It isn't recommended outfit as I saw it quick on 2nd link I posted.

Rockies acts as a placement agency based in Dalian (that could be one person with laptop on free wi-fi).

In other words 'you'll be offered position in the city nobody wants to go or stay for long.'

if we could see Contract they are offering, we could talk longer.

It would be better, if you would ask them for the Contract, and c&p it here.

Then, you'll get an opinions of FTs here for what you should look for = 'good&bads'.

" "We are not an agent or intermediary, and the locations that we recruit for are either directly owned or partnered schools that use the Rockies designated curriculum."

This is a new semi-scam scheme. "We are not an agency but you will sign a contract with us blah blah"...

Avoid them and:

Zhejiang Helen/ZhejiangWendy or whatever name they're using at the moment

Haida

Echo English

Maple Leaf

China Youth International

If you are not signing a contract directly with the school, stay away.
