I used to stay at home for 7 days, but it is really really really boring and i don't want to spend a boring holiday again this year considering it is so long (plus the Mid-Autumn Day,it will last for 8 days or even longer this year). What's your plan for the national holidays?
Nothing special, I will be working half the time. The rest of the time maybe go for a hike, and get in some exercises, study, and watch a few movies. I just had a trip a few weeks ago, so I will be laying low.
No holiday for me. I will be in the US! :) But, in honor of the holiday, I will buy a smoker fill it with fruit wood chips and smoke a pork shoulder covered in my homemade rub, then after it has cooked for about 12 hours, I will smother it in my homemade bbq sauce and enjoy a pulled pork sandwich. If I feel adventurous, I may even make my own buns. All the while I will be washing it down with a fat tire microbrew and listening to the beautiful sounds of silence outside my window as I watch sailboats cruise by in the bay.

and after all the good advice and words of wisdom, you just do somthing to make me hat you
Well my missus is taking our son home to see her folks so i'll be home alone. Gotta stay around though as I work through the hols. It's gets too quiet without them around but the one good thing is I am able to enjoy a whisky and a cigarette in the living room. Since my son was born i've had to tone down on my vices, so i'll definitely be enjoying a Jack Daniels and playing my sax a lot. Other than that it'll be business as usual.
work during day time...drink in the evening..watch movies...I canceled the trip for national holiday. Instead I will take long break on spring festival in February...Visit home country and go for trek....
I spent the national day in Guilin a couple years ago. Prices skyrocket, everywhere is crowded, each and every scam is in full swing...
So I will be relaxing at home, hanging out with the others here who hate the busy traveling days. When the holiday is over and people are back to work, I want to bike around Yellow Mountain or Hunan
mArtiAn:
I definitely recommend Yellow Mountain, but if you plan to find a hotel up there, book online. Me and the missus tried to wing it and went from place to place; cheapest offer for one night was 500. Went down the mountain and booked online for three nights and it was 900 altogether. Make sure you visit the Grand Canyon there. Stunning.

Seriously? I was planning on going to Yangshuo, near Guilin... But since you're saying Guilin is already going to be crowded and Yangshuo is only an hour bus ride away... I guess I'll be staying in as well. Hibernate.
bike-gypsy:
i was in yangshuo actually, only one day in guilin. the food was the normal price, it was the hotels that were through the roof. some places were asking over five hundred. I found someplace that was tiny for 300
when is it?
Xpat.John:
The official days are Oct. 1-3. The unofficial days are Oct. 1-7. They do this by "borrowing" weekends which basically means 7 days off, then 7 days of working in a row.

this year it will be longer,as the Mid-Autumn Day and the National Day come together
My plan is to have a plan for that holiday......any suggestions?!!!!
If I'll have some job that could be done at home - I'll be working at home.
Otherwise - more photography, and preparing some private projects.

To cook nice things.invite my friends..and party together at home..no outdoor plan..
