Q: when to cancel your alien employment permit? I don't need it for transfer or anything.

If you work for a company and already have "alien employment permit" which will expire in November  and  at the same time, You have found a school who wants you to come there to teach in September , so they have applied and got you "Work permit" for foreign experts that they want you to go home in April or May to apply new Z-visa cuz you can't transfer your current visa to a school. The question is,

1. Do I need to cancel the "alien employment  permit (still valid ) before I go home to apply the new visa  or I can go home and apply the New Visa then when I enter China again, I let the company cancel the alien employment permit cuz I won't go there to work again

2. secondly, if the alien employment permit isn't canceled before I go back home, can it have any effect on the Z visa i will apply back home?

1. No, make sure you get your release letter and let the company cancel it and give you the copy. Also get a recommendation letter.

2. New requirements are in China now for doc's, all of them, so you might need to pay a visit back home and get all your doc's authenticated & notarized because you are changing jobs. But all cities are different so go ask in person, not by phone at the FEC office and PSB. Show them your docs and ask what else you need.

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
