Q: When do you know you need to leave China?
After 6-12 months everyone should leave China, even if you think you don't need to. Otherwise China overdose can creep up on you.
Some people come to China for years, one, three. five ten, and never leave during that time. China can grate on you and become more annoying and you naturally take the good things about living in China for granted. For mental health reasons it's good to get out as often as possible. Go home for a holiday, or visit other countries in Asia refreshing your outlook, helping you remember why you liked China in the first few months you were here.

I find the first question - indeed, the VERY FIRST THING THEY SAY, is "Where are you from?" Not even a "Hi, how are you?" or other forms of politeness - just - "you are demanded to tell me where you come from!!!"
