I heard the train coming, it's rolling around the bend and I haven't seen the sunshine since I got here in Beijing a few months ago. Now I'm stuck in Beijing, and time keeps dragging me on...
Before I left Oklahoma, my ex-wife told me "Dear, always be a good man, don't ever play with fire" But when the heat whistled blowing down on me today, I got beaten down, got home and hang my head and cry
Well, if they freed me from this prison I bet I'd move it all a little farther down the line far from Beijing, that's where I want to stay and I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away. I don't like it, but I guess things happen that way You ask me if I'll get along I guess I will, some way, I don't like it
But I guess things happen that way God gave me that girlfriend to lean on, then He put me on my own Heaven help me be a man, have the strength to stand alone… I didn't make it. But I guess things happen that way.
Anyone else feel they want to go home and leave this wretched place?

United Airlines, flight 888, leaves at noon, be there,, god ya take one up the poop shoot and ya wanna go home. you aint Johnny Cash cause you hit like a girl. you leaving because everyone knows you got beatup with a dildo? can't blame you.
I'm having a rough time on many levels, miss my dog, but I'm not done here yet, figure I'll try to adapt, volunteered to tutor English in exchange for Chinese lessons, cause my friends haven't taught me squat. I got one Uni student, all he wants is to practice English and learn about my home so far.
BouleDeGeisha:
Good lord Ted, I thought I'd have to make a Justin Bieber post for you to catch on!
TedDBayer:
I like Avril, she's from my home town...I'm way brighter than you, If i was dumb i couldn't be this funny.
BouleDeGeisha:
I could sing you the song of your people, but I never had the opportunity to visit Quinte, so i'm out of luck, i guess...
TedDBayer:
try Quinte Detention Center, l'm sure they'll be glad to see ya, ya can sing "Ring Of Fire" all you want there
Enough with the lyrics. We all get it.
BouleDeGeisha:
I see my plan to turn this forum into a huge e-musical isn't working as expected...
The China dream didn't live up to your expectations.
The problem is that you came here with expectations in the first place.
You can go to any place in the world but you're just running away from yourself.
wow you're so amazing! Who didnt know you were using lyrics? grow up loser
i cant wait for the Gate of my flight to start loading passengers... China deceived us and lead us straight to a kind of behavioral prison, we can't avoid it anything now, just bear the consequence of our own foolishness... we always thought that the grass is greener in other place than the one near us... but the lesson is learnt, i will thank China for the lesson when the day comes, but still, China will always be unforgiven! good day!
dharma86:
Again, you're blaming China for what was in your own mind.
It's your own fault you feel this way, not China's.
TedDBayer:
If you really were poontanging a 19 yr old, how much greener can it get?
I cant wait for both of your flights to board (op&bigkishna)
(please not Australia Please not Australia Please.......)
Dont let the door hit you in the Ass on the way out
Anyone who quotes Johnny Cash and Orange Blossom Special is AOK! Damn, lighten up people.
No I'm not leaving.
Are you wanting to go home because your gf threatened to kill you?
Can't say as I blame her, really.
Just be courageous and buy your plane ticket out of there. Life is too short to be miserable. You can even consider moving to Shanghai if you really dont want to leave China, just don't torture yourself and then try to get sympathy from others. The power of change is in your own hands. You can do it.
Not me, I actually love it here in Beijing!
Mr_spoon:
You're ENJOYING it? Even after the olympics?
You must live in shunyi, or one of those awesome, far away district.
Far away from those mercedes driving, iPhone dialling, Macbook typing, Starbucks drinking, foreign hating (the irony is killing me) hipsters.
GuilinRaf:
Well, I arrived long after the Olympics. I actually live in Muxidi, walking distance from Tianamen Square.
After four years in Guilin, I needed a BIG city.
I have my nice little "bubble" of friends, so while I do encounter more anti-foreign sentiment here than in Guilin, my job and friends more than make up for it.
winter time when it gets cold i go home every oct and come back in mar 6 months here and 6 months at home

i am retired and just teach english for fun since my wife dosnt like california we split the time 1/2 year and 1/2 year their keeps us happy
When the milking of the cash cow is complete...

981!!!!!!!!!!!
IT MUST BE 981 HE HATES ME AND HE SAID CRASS! THAT WAS HIS SPECIAL MAGICAL WORD!
I AM ENTHUSED TO KNOW THAT I HAVE RUINED ONE LIFE ENOUGH TO INSPIRE AN ANGRY GIMMICK MULTI, LIKE, SIX MONTHS LATER. IT HAS VALIDATED MY ATTENTION WHORING COMPLETELY
Honestly, I can't wait to get out of here. I have five months left on my contract, but it's highly doubtful whether I'll make it...
Oh, and for those "if you don't like it, just leave" folks, it's not always so easy. I've signed a year-long contract, the school I work for has an incredibly tough time finding new staff and would certainly not be able to replace myself and my partner if we bail. No doubt they'd be happy to have us replaced with happy-clappy-china-lover types, but in the real world, if we bail, our Chinese colleagues would be absolutely screwed.
'tis a major dilemma!
Jnusb416:
Exactly. Many of us don't just stay here for the heck of it. We have contracts, some of which have major penalties if you leave early. And like you said, it leaves the school without an English teacher, which isn't fair to them either. There was never a point where I thought I just can't do this anymore (except for one of my part time jobs), but I'm starting to feel some major homesickness now, and I only have a month left. Do you just want to find another job, or leave China altogether?
MissA:
Leave China altogether and go elsewhere in Asia.
China's just not the right place for us to be
Jnusb416:
I'm going to attempt to get a job in Korea. Wanna come with? Seems so much better than the job I have now.
MissA:
Sounds like a plan! But, there's some serious travelling to be done first :)
Jnusb416:
Oh I'm not done traveling. Maybe I'm done in China, but there are other countries I want to go to. Korea will just be my home base. If I'm really lucky, next year my best friend will come to visit me and then maybe we can go to Japan together. I wouldn't go back unless someone goes with me, because I got really lonely. Japan would be the greatest adventure with a friend.
MissA:
Japan sounds amazing, I'd love to travel there! But, the travel savings from this contract will be devoted to India for me, hopefully at least six months on the road, then back to work somewhere.
Have you considered Japan as a place to work, Jnus?
Is China the most uncultured Country you know?, it may be harsh
TedDBayer:
you forgot lazy and liars, not listen, not answering, peeing pooing and spitting where they please. but the women have nice derrieres
It is best to leave during the slow travel times. My guess is October-November and January to May.
