Q: When I go back home am I allowed to scream ni hao every time I see a Chinese person?
Your scream will be more typical if you use your cell phone do.....
Now I seem to meet more Chinese people at home, but they don't seem friendly. I try to talk and ask then how they like Canada. They seem shy or disinterested in talking.
The problem with yelling ni hao is that they might not be Chinese. Then you lose face. I can't tell a China person from another asian myself.

If there are Chinese living abroad they obviously have a bit more common sense to be in the position that they are in,,, so no.
I know it really bugs you, but you have to remember the golden rule. Those Chinese people in America would probably never have called "hello" to you, they're the type that mind their own business.
Should go one step further. When you see a Chinese person in a cafeteria or restaurant, look shocked if they use a knife and fork correctly then go up and congratulate them.
