Q: when will China allow international cell phones

I hate having to get another SIM  card every time I come and go from China. must be an easier way. I live here, so normallly I only have a Chinese phone........  every time I leave I get another SIM card for wherever I am.....  what am I doing wrong?

So basically you are wanting to be able to use your Chinese phone in other countries?  That should be something you can arrange with your carrier.  I know several Chinese colleagues and friends who  have used their phones abroad using their Chinese SIM card....just has to be arranged with the phone carrier (China Mobile, China Unicom, whoever).

This already exists, and is actually not very expensive at all.

Go to any legit official store and ask.

I have a China Mobile sim with international service. It isn't even that expensive to use outside of China.

I've had the same one for years. It cost 1500RMB to ope international service. That money goes into a prepaid account, so you can use it for calling, so technically it is free. (or was when I did it) Last time the wife and me were in Europe we used our China Mobile sims, although I did also carry an old Nokia with my old sim card from before we moved to China. (which also works in China but unfavorably priced)

One option is to download Skype on your phone and make calls through them.  That's what I did when I went home for the holidays. Pretty cheap, but you need an internet connection.

Yup. A China mobile card is cheaper to use abroad than, for example, a UK card in France. When i was in the UK and my wife was here, I always used the China mobile card to text her. It was a lot cheaper than using the UK card.

Chinese mobile charges are low. What's your gripe?

Do you mean international cell phone service? I frequently phoned my family back home, and they phoned me, too. I didn't pay much for it. No problem there.

Do you mean actual international cell phone devices? I used them all over China and had no problem with them.

I don't think I understood the question.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
