Q: When will Hong Kong clean up Filipinos?

Do you see the day? This is a touchy topic, I'm willing to take the heat for it.

I went and took my family from the U.S on a Hong Kong tour during January 30th.. Everything was great except the eye sore of Filipinos everywhere and in every corner and camping on every set of stairs practically everywhere...

This was beyond overload, I can't believe there were so many..How in the hell do they keep renewing their visa's? Why hasn't Hong Kong done anything about this? It was a very embarrassing, all we could remember were seeing Filipinos camping out side every where instead of the Hong Kong beauty...

Here ya go, pal.

You got a complaint about foreigners in Hong Kong? Allow me to suggest you take it up with the Hong Kong government's complaint board. Maybe they'll have something constructive to say about your complaint - which I ain't gonna touch, by the way. Wanna know why? Coz it's inflammatory and racist. And you're obviously bored on a Sunday afternoon.

So, good luck in making a real difference in the lives of Hong Kongers and lodging your complaint in an appropriate manner. Link below.

http://www.1823.gov.hk/eng/complain/complaint_dept.shtm

ironman510:

Despite the strained relations between Hong Kong and Manila over President Aquino’s refusal to apologize for the 2010 Manila bus hostage crisis, members of the former Crown colony’s business community raised nearly P64 million during an annual fund-raiser to help poor Filipinos escape poverty. The International Care Ministries (ICM) much-awaited 2013 Hong Kong Banquet—held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai on Oct. 10—raised at least HK$11.4 million in just one night to help more than 100,000 poor Filipinos in the Visayas, Palawan, and western and central Mindanao.

Yeah, so?

Kudos to HK for extending foreign aid to a poor neighbor. Re the bus incident, Scando may have a point. However, what do those two issues have to do with the OP's original question?

Sounds like both Iron and Scando are a bit off topic here coz I see no relationship between their comments and the original question. If the OP had a sorry holiday in HK thanks to whatever (expectations, prejudices, or retrospectively, mental masturbation on a lazy Sunday afternoon) s/he should complain to the HK authorities. Short of civic action, the post is a feeble attempt to incite hate.

So, maybe off topic isn't so bad, after all. Now, let's see who will feed the troll...

HK will "clean up" Filipino's when HK citizens get off their lazy arses and wipe them themselves, as well as looking after thier own kids, cleaning thier own apartments, etc. The Filipinos working their as maids, etc are only doing so to support their own families at home, have no long-term rights, unlike other migrants & get only one day off each week, where they all then gather in places like Victoria Park to socialise. I'd guess the OP is also one of the Yanks who wants all Hispanic immigrants to leave the good old US of A, while being quite happy to pay peanuts to have thier lawns mown & cars washed. Arse!

Filipinos work in HK because people pay them to do work... I heard the same discourses about Mainlanders, and the same rant for Singapore. Somehow some people are scrubbing the toilets of the paradise, and they would be nice to stay invisible and silent. They are cheap labor, the paradise is running on their back, and all they got is despicable discourses about them, second class citizenship, etc. and to top that, it is written on a forum where a majority of contributors are migrant workers...

Everyone I've met from the Philippines is really nice.

I hope someone cleans you up. Preferably with their Audi.

coineineagh:

that would mean the chinese here would be running "amok", pinoy style. look up the term and its origins. and for the record, i only offered supporting commentary. i didn't advocate cleaning anyone up, with or without audis. curb your anger m'lord samsara. i have more insight into filipinos than friendly chats with cleanjng staff and i warn everybody: they are not to be trusted. their pride, nepotism and moral corruption make chinese facesaving look positively divine.

Your comments are usually articulate and intelligent, Coineineagh. Apparently your experience with Filipino people has been worse than mine (mine being entirely positive).

i thoight the audi comment was related to something i said in another topic. i didn't start the topic, no. i'll take the heat for my own comments, though. i feel strongly that filipinos are not to be trusted. i met many in the 6 months i lived there, and once you scratch beyond the surface, you'll find nothing praiseworthy about those people. don't be taken in by friendly discourse, decent english and westernized social habits. filipinos have all the access to democracy, western education and modernization that china is still working to build on its own, yet they still manage to create a cesspit of corruption, abuse and opportunism. you'd think they might at least have some redeeming qualities, but it seems they have chosen to internalise only the most negative traits of catholicism, consumerism and malaysian family culture. don't feel sympathy for their poverty: there's a reason why those lazy islands are not considered "tigers". the only things they are good at is fighting and golddigging. trust any of them at your own risk.

I know it must be difficult for mainlanders to go to HK and see different races living and working together. Many of those Filipinos are actually residents, citizens or in the process of becoming citizens (that happens in civilized countries, they do not restrict citizenship to just 1 particular race)

The fact that you are so easily offended by simply seeing people of a different race shows that you and people like you are the garbage  that needs to be cleaned up from this planet.

JacobJohn:

thanks Englteachted. Well, I wouldn't call him garbage, but yeah, there's no need of such people. I know life in Hong Kong is not easy for Filipinos and I know some of them personally how much they struggle to make their life there.

I have lived in Hong Kong before with a filipino maid, the maids usually have Sundays off and they have very little money to enjoy Hong Kong, so the good ones gather at parks, the bad ones try to score a "john" for the day off to send money home.
This has been going on for over 30years and everyone should know this, did you climb out from under a rock yesterday. Next time plan your trip in the internet and get the real scoop on what you will find. escapeartist.com or livingoverseas.com.
after you remove the rock over your head, you will also realize that people live in small cages for apartments there in many places, could be worse, you could live near the city dumps in manilla in stolen cargo container and many koreans have this type of housing also.
my favorite place to visit is all the drug users with free needles camped in the public parks and sleeping on the sidewalk next to police stations in vancouver. its a wonderful life.

as to the racial remarks, all i can say is a poor filipino may not have much but their house is usually very clean, i cant say that about hardly any chinese houses i have visited rich or poor, if you think people in hong kong would hire a mainland maid for half the price of a filipino maid, you can be sure that would never happen. because of british influence they actually expect a restroom to have no flies and and smell like the rest of the house. imagine that.
all countries with a single entity delegating the power are screwed up, the ccp for china or the catholic church for the filipinos or mosques for the middle east. corruption is based on a single entity power, but the philippines is still far better than china, at least i can buy a gun there, but not legally to protect myself, here your just screwed.

To anonymous, your going to take the heat?, You are too much of a coward to use your real name. You're a turd. The Filipinos probably work cheaper than Chinese and I've never seen any in HK.

You are also not from the USA, your English isn't American and you'll probably never have a family, at least I hope not, you shouldn't be allowed to breed.

Flipinos are much friendlier than Chinese and don't have any annoying rude habits like spitting or staring.

i think you are just another Chinese racist.

I'd like to add that because they don't have money doesn't make them bad people, the richest people  know are the cheapest and often the worst people.

Generally speaking, from what I have heard hong kongers dont mindhaving pinoys there as much as mainlanders. They are cheap labour, obide by the laws apart from prostitution and dont really cause much of a stir. Im sorry the mere sight of them has caused you such a fury as you didnt mention them actually doing anything negative.

My only beef with pinoys in HK is that they seem to keep all the hot ones back in the philipines. Never seen any in HK? Although I surely wouldnt want to date a pinoy any I have personally met have been kinda great.

I know that this is a very old post, but I still want to give an answer to the question.  Hong Kong can't do away with FIlipinos precisely because the Filipino domestic helpers are the ones cleaning up for them.  Just imagine Hong Kong without these domestic helpers.

The Filipinos gather because they need some air to breathe after a week-long work with little rest serving the Chinese.  Gathering helps them survive the hardships they face.  They don't have money to spend in any place except free parks, or stairs, or hallways.

How I wish the Hong Kong government can give them a gymnasium where they can gather for free so that people like you will not think of them as eyesore.

Be considerate and think about the hardships they have both in the Philippines and in the country where they serve.  Filipinos work hard and sacrifice being away from loved ones for love of their families.

By the way, I am a Filipino.

ScotsAlan:

I know a few Filipinos here, and I agree, life can be tough. But tell me, do you think life is better in China or in HK? The folk I know are singers/performers, and they seem to enjoy China. Apart from the women who have to leave their kids and family at home while they work here.

True that, HK would be a dirty mess without Filipinos because Hongkers are lazy bums who never clean their homes let alone outside their homes. I have worked with Hongkers for many years until recently, here on the Mainland, they had accommodations provided by the company, not one of them would clean up anything even though that's where they lived 5 days per week all year round. Personally, provided or owned, I have enough self-respect to not want to live in a dumphole, cultural difference I guess.

you choose to remain anonymous because you know your question and comment is downright offensive and "fakely" condescending. Anybody who tries to make themselves feel better by putting down another person or group has psychological issues...either schizo or bipolar, hence the grandiose outlook. in a nutshell YOU ARE NOTHING!!! so poof!!! vamoos!!!

The Filippinos are the eyesores? What do they do....spit, shove, poop, snap pictures of me, and stand in front of people who are trying to exit the subway?

Wait--those are the Mainlanders. The Filippinos work hard, make the city look nice, and congregate respectfully in public areas.

The eyesore in HK are the Mainlanders. Same as every tourist site.
