Q: When you try to explain something to people back home do you say because they are Chinese?

My dear darling wife is on her way back to Australia at long last. But in true Chinese form it was a epic tale suitable of a comedy
I bought her ticket online a couple of weeks ago and she got a call from the travel company telling her there was a email on the way that she needed to fill in and return to them . Well she never did , so when she got to check in there was no ticket as the travel company returned my payment because she never filled out the form.
So next thing is I get a text from a very hysterical Wife . I go to a travel agent near where I live to try and fix the problem
Asked what had went wrong I gave the simple answer "because she is Chinese"
Do you Guys give this answer ?
Oh and the airline has now lost her suitcase .so guess what I will be doing this weekend
And this is why I Drink

"Why do I have to fill in a form?".... yeah. I can hear my wife say that and then not fill in the firm or bother to ask why it is needed. And yes. I'd explain why to anyone back home with "Chinese people are not detailed oriented"

teggsnose:

Not detailed oriented ! I beg to differ...

They are not oriented - period !

Have you seen the number of forms you have to fill in for a simple bank transaction??? angry

Scandinavian:

yeah, it is especially impressive as doing the same thing online requires almost nothing. I don't quite understand all the paperwork in China. what a waste of resources, poor Mother Earth.

it keeps people busy....... when registering with the police on arrival in Changsha, i had to go from one building to another, through a security door, up stairs and into an office, solely to get the form stamped. That woman was probably asleep all day only to be woken up by the odd foreigner returning from abroad

Form Hulk here. I really hate forms. I want to SMASH the kind of people who came up with the idea of forms. I want to BASH them and MASH them.

Oh... uh, yeah. Luckily, my wife is pretty detail-oriented. I'm the one with Chinese problems here. She's always good about filling in whatever forms are required.

I used to say things like that.  But people don't get it so now I just say "you wouldn't understand".

Still trying to get my driving license stuff sorted. Today I have to go back to the school to get more photos taken and my fingerprints done again. This is the third time. I am pretty sure none of my details have changed in the last two weeks, so I am baffled as to why they can't use the details/pics already there. Now, there are four forms to be filled in each time too. Also, I had to go to my local police station, twice, to get a form that says where I live and then another one to print a made up Chinese name because the computer system for the driving bureau does not recognise English names. The answer from my missus when I blew up about all this - it's China. Of course it is, silly me.

so now you are known under your Chinese name "铺地砖"

Forgive my ignorance, I'm sure it's funny. What does it mean? My reading is really bad.

There will be more jobs for more people by compliacting simple things.  You would understand the system and the ways they work if you were a Chinese.
