right let me be more specific. the museum shows paintings done on flat canvass or surfaces but if you were looking at it from a specific point then it would look as if it was protruding, hence the reason why i use the word 3D. so anyone know where it is?

I am not sure if this is the place you are looking for, but it does have a building (supposedly) dedicated to 3D art.  It is called: 50 Moganshan Road Art Center. You can find more information about it here: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/china/shanghai/sights/gallery/50-moganshan-road

I saw the same program and was wondering if you had figured out where it was or what the name of the gallery is.  Any luck? My wife and I would love to check it out!

from people square go to the bund through nanjing pedistrian road, at the end you look for The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel, is located under the the bund sightseeing. I think it is called Tricked House - 3D Art. Most people like with the Sightseeing Tunnel, laser light decorated all over the tunnel.
