Q: Where to buy costumes in Beijing?
I got invited to this theme party with some people i just met and i want to impress them by dressing up as a traditional Chinese Cherry blossom tress. I'm looking for a place where I can buy that kind of costume, but i'm looking for a hi-quality one. If money isn't an issue, is there a place where i can buy one, or a tailor that can make me one?
I really want to be the star of the night!

buy on taobao .. as you have said you have a chinese gf (or wife ) ,you can seek her help
The problem when buying on the internets is that you cannot try it on. I'm quite picky when it comes to costumes, as I want them to be the perfect fit.
Also, on the internets, you cannot be sure of quality, so it is a big no-no for me.
Would you dress as a smiling Chicken if the waist is too large? Would you wear a Gandalf costume if you would look like a guy in his sleeping gown because it was poorly made? Would you dress as a crazy duck if the nose was not plastic but just linen holded by wooden bars?
The goal of wearing a funny costume is to look funny, not look ridiculous, I can't stress it moar. Usually, a good tailor is a keeper, when it comes to costume. Because it's rare to find a very good one. I want to find one in Beijing, and keep him for as long as I can.
Find the theater district. They will have numerous costume shops near by.

I believe you are a gentleman of a high-skill nature. So I fully believe you can make this 'cherry blossom tree' outfit yourself!
What you need is:
- 4 large carboard boxes
- pink tissue paper
- glue
- sticky tape
- wire (a metal coathanger will do)
- a fat black marker pen
- about 2 hours (Beijing time)
Then, you combine all the above in a tree-shape. Voila! You have your costume!
I think I have all the materials necessary for the task. But my coathangers are a bit dirty, we had a game with my Chinese girlfriend some times ago, and she didnt want me to clean them because it reminds them of a lot of things. Does the coathanger needs to be crystal clean or can it be a bit messy?
But i have to admit, i'm quite a poor taylor myself, and i'm the contrary of swift when it comes to sewing. I'm gonna try and do my best to finish but a real taylor is, of all time, the best suited for that kind of job.
But maybe I can get a discount if I bring the materials?
