So I have grown tired of Chinese food and have even had dreams lately of eating delicious American dishes. Where can I buy some western comfort food? There is a Walmart here, but I've been told that they don't have western food, but I will check that out tomorrow myself. I've been to amazon.cn and I see some items there worth buying, but not a very broad selection. Any ideas? Also can use the regular Amazon.com to order and ship items to China?
Does your city have a Metro? Seems to be the best bet for finding western food and ingredients at a supermarket type place. Another option would be an Ole (e should have an accent mark, no idea how to do that). That Walmart should have a few things, as well as any RT-Mart or Tesco or Carrefour supermarkets....
Most of the bigger supermarkets of international flavor will have an imported section. Where you can get some basic items.
In Zhuhai we have a couple of imported food stores that advertise as such to the expat community, but there are also a couple of back alley places that do wholesale of e.g. Aussie beef and dutch cheese to restaurants that have such crazy ingredients on the menu.
Taobao, you can get stuff there too.
Amazon.com should work. Amazon.cn might have some of the same items at lower transport cost.

this outfit is in shenzhen... delivery is reasonable and there is a variety of imported goods ..... if the real "urge" is there, maybe they can help you.

I looked at their website and their inventory looks amazing, but unfortunately it does not seem that they deliver to Zibo, Shandong area :(((
BHGAL:
you have money.. you can get whatever you want.....simple as that.. gotta look around

That shop is amazing. Forutnatly for me i live there. They are cheaper too as they dont have a storefront. But you can go browse the wharehouse. Its right in the heart of shekou. Check taobao, but dont check items check stores. Like if you see an item search that seller and see what else they have. Theu will definatly ship to you.
What city?

Also, 大润发, A.K.A. RT-Mart. Go there, too.
麦德龙 = METRO. Paste either Chinese phrase to the taxi driver.

You just don't know how you just saved my life haha!!!! Thank you!!
Is there en expat website there? If so somebody there could probably tell you where to buy things.
I like it here when somebody actually may have been helped ..... way to go HULK!! you should get an extra few flashlights. they will soon be ordered/delivered.
Honestly, if you're desperate (and you probably are), Beijing is only 3 hours away by train! Make a weekend of it, get in some good restaurant time, and shop til you drop! It'll keep you going for another couple of months!
from zibo, take the fast train to jinan, at the train station take the number 3 bus to the walmart, 2 blocks east of walmart on the other side of the road is |parc 66| shopping mall, ole is on the third floor, from the same street(jie fang lu) take bus(bus 101 or walk) east 2 long blocks to a north south road called "lishan lu" go to the right south on bus BRT 2 OR BRT 3 two stops, across from rt mart is jenny's cafe(recommend the fajitas with pico de gallo, no negro medelo just corona) and next door is a "u mart" that has imported food, what jenny's doesn't use, they sell in the store.
ole has the best selection, about 20 different cheese, foreign beers, wine, coffee,
make sure the item has an import sticker and no chinese writing or its just a copy of the real thing. some milk will have chinese writing where they ship it in large containers and then repackage here, not sure i trust the repackaged products, if it has any chinese writing, assume the worst
the directions above are from the jinan central train station, if you go to the west station, take the k157 for 2rmb to the central station and catch number 3 bus from directions above, recently in that area, "parc66", they now have a burger king and subway.
Idiots abroad

What about missing food from one's home country makes them an idiot?
For those of you who don't know already, try Jinkou.info. It's a great site that delivers all over China. If you live in Xi'an (as I did last year, but moved to city further north) delivery is same day and free, no matter the amount. They just started (last year) to deliver china-wide and you can pay by card or C.O.D. Unfortunately, you have to order 500RMB minimum to get free delivery china-wide, but if that's too much for your wallet, order with a couple of your ex-pat buddies. You can even leave a request for that special something you really miss, but can't find, and they'll do their best to get it! I asked for Frank's Red Hot sauce, they had it in about a month. Check it out! I've used them several times over the last two years, and I've NEVER had a problem. It's run by an ex-pat, so he gets us!
