If you can find areas that sell scooters, there is usually part stores close by that sell helmets. Chinese helmets suck. They have no impact absorbing material. basically just a hard hat. The helmet would never pass a DOT safety certificate for use in North America. It'll keep you from scraping your skull but won't absorb any impact. I looked at a full coverage helmet and it was the same.

 A good bicycle helmet would probably be better, it has styrofoam lining, to absorb shock, but maybe not enough of a hard shell. All the motorcycle taxi drivers just wear construction helmets with no straps, which offers little safety and will fall off in a spill.

 Wearing a proper helmet, you won't feel anything in a crash. Head injuries are serious. At home kids are supposed to wear helmets on bicycles. Think egg hitting the floor.
