Q: Where can I buy some delicious cookies here in China?
My cookie jar is empty. You know how it is.
I have found some good ones at bakery stores (like coconut flavor). Also at some large chains of supermarkets too. It is mostly trial and error, if have not taste them ever, buy the sma;;est package, so if I dislike would not mind that much getting rid of them.
Buy imported ones from metro.... Now a days imported food section is there in most smaller supermarkets as well.. Like lotte, centurymart ....
You must really be passionate about cookies!! Tim Tams are seriously delicious and am sure they would satisfy your undoubtedly sophisticated taste for good quality cookies.
They are available (though terribly overpriced) from Cityshop in Shanghai and many other large supermarkets with a solid foreign range.
Oreos are the most popular cookie in China, never tried one, flavours are different for Chinese and I think less sweet.

Oreos are actually extremely sweet here! In an overly-sweet gross way.
As you must know yourself Cookiemonster, the best cookies are the homemade ones. So go to Carrefour or any other big supermarket and buy yourself a chunk of butter, eggs, flour, sugar and chocolate and off you go and make your own!

You can buy an over for under 500 rmb from taobao or even Carrefour nowadays. That's really not that much. I don't understand how so many foreigners here who stay for a few years think that ovens are too expensive, yet they run to Zara and H&M and buy a bad quality shirt without hesitating or go to a cocktail bar and spend over 500 kuai on one night. An oven is a great investment and you can do so much with it. It'll vastly improve the quality of your life here.
