This could be a joke but anyways like I've always said if you can find a walmart you will likely find what you are looking for. So try the nearest walmart store near you!!
Most City Shops carry them, but of course they are pricey, as they only carry this natural brand called Natracareor something like that. SOMETIMES Carrefour has them, but only ones in "expat" neighborhoods. Gubei Carrefour usually has them. My wife usually buys them off of taobao or amazon.cn

Girls here do not use tampons...only pads, and that is pretty much all you will find, unless you are very determined.

That does not surprise me. I have tried to convice my gf to try them and she always gives me the dirtiest look and walks away.
As far as i know any good supermarket have it.. look for a tiny box - light blue & white color.. it will be kept near pads...

I know this conversation started a year ago, but still, if my post can help some of you who are still in Shanghai or even in China I would be glad to give you guys some updates! I've tried applicator tampons (got some samples from a ladies night). A brand called Wishu distributes applicator tampons in Shanghai.
This reminds me of one of the funny little stories that occur whilst living in China. One day after eating a typical Chinese meal, the "la duzi" cracked in with me. I headed for a building where I knew there was some public lavatories. However, I knew there would be no toilet paper when I arrived. So in a mad dash, I headed for a small booth type shop in the building concourse. I picked up a pack that I thought contained paper tissues and rushed out leaving the money on the checkout counter. You can guess want is to follow. When I opened the pack, it was actually tampons!

Hi! I also heard from a friend about this brand Wishu! I'm living in Shanghai since 1 year and I asked 2 times my mother to send me a package of tampons!! How can we not find tampons in Shanghai?! So it's cool now I will buy this brand. My friend says we can order on their website, so I will try next time

Yes, actually I can find digital tampons in china (the ob style) but I dont like it!
I also prefer with applicator, doesn't hurt.

Have you tried any of the Watson's stores? They carry an imported line.
I don't believe thay are too popular here. Would advise you switch to pads.
