Q: Where do all the foreigners hang out in Guangzhou?

I love living in Guangzhou but sometimes I feel like being in more "familiar" cultural surroundings. Where are some cool spots that my fellow expats like to hang out?

The places that foreigners seem to hang out in Guangzhou are all on Huanshi Donglu and Taojin Street. Try Gipsy King Bar or Mexico Bar to meet with other expats.

Every club I go to, they are filled up with street girls (you know what I mean)....

I don't do bars or pubs but pretty much every expat I know goes to these places:

Hooley's Irish Pub and Restaurant, 2 Tian He Bei Lu, Guangzhou (020) 3886 2675

Paddy Field, G/F, Central Plaza, 38 Huale Rd. (a side drive behind the Garden Hotel) Tel: 83601379

Elephant & Castle, 363 Huanshi Dong Rd. (Near Baiyun Hotel) Tel: 8359 3309

The ones that are "working" are upfront about it the "normal" ones are in denial but want the something... Money, gifts, travel, things, go abroad... They don't screw or date for fun but to trap you into marriage. Wink

Another cool spot for foreigners to hang out would be Xingguo Road, Liede, Zhujiang New Town. Whole street lined up with nice foods and bars.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is 'Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by 1. Finding an employer; 2. Employer applies for an Invitation letter; 3. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
